Mate, until you have the 2.5 in you won't know if the decision is the correct one,

But at least you will have seen and experienced what you have built to make a final decision after that

Tbh Frayz i personally think you got one of the best looking cars about. Love the Prodrive styling on the bugeye. Good mate of mine has got an Escos, approx 400bhp. He loves it. I love it to have a go in, or be a passenger, but I just couldnt live with it as my daily driver, to raw. He also has a vectra for the Mrs. So i suppoose it depends on what you want from the car really. I would keep the scoob and do what Dave is doing and build a MK2 Escort with Cossie engine, running gear, cage etc.

just my opinion of course

I own both a 3 door sierra cosworth but only with a shade over 300bhp and a UK 2003 WRX, the sierra is far more involving when driven fast, and I must agree that it feels a lot faster than the impreza, but then again it is only 1250kg and hasn't the 4wd transmission losses to take into account. I only tax it for summer months and due to rarity of parts won't leave it unattended, if that is what you want then go for it, but you need to go look at a few and make sure it is the right decision for you, another good point on the cossie is cheap classic insurance so maybe you could keep the impreza as well.

Sell the bugeye and keep all the bits and put it in a classic instead. Then you will have some thing that will put a serious smile on your face.

Have had 2 saphs running dynoed 330bhp RWD, and the fastest classic was a 2.5, 20g, 380/380, and the TBH I don't think I would want the kind of power I had in the scoob in any other platform other than the scoob.

My 330bhp RWD saph, was huge fun but in reality a total handful, and would be all over the place trying to keep up with a mildly modded scoob in a spirited drive in some twisites. I recall doing this a couple of years back at a local scoob meet when I brought my saph along.

That said I was having a real giggle keeping up and was probably provoking things more than I should and I have no doubt I had far more fun as the scoob boys probably felt like they were on a sunday outing.

In summary I think a 330bhp RWD saph for example could put as much grin on your face as a 400/400scoob and could probably be done on half the budget.

Mmmmmmmmm. Damn I fancy another cossie now.

Who knows?

I have more than this on my 2.5ltr but I think my car is OK, Its a quick car but not as quick as I had hoped for. Everyone who gets in the car thinks its mental apart from me !! You may feel the same way if your expecting that certain power figure to be stunning

It's what you get used to Steve.

When mine was 360bhp I thought it was quick then it was 450 and I was astounded. Now I want more!!!!

I was reading the thread about the STI + jaws of life and the B pillar won. The front A pillars are weaker, the same for the rear supports. Different supports are strong apparently at the rear end and i am talking about the 2002 manufactured Impreza WRX, STI, Forester, Legacy, Outback and the Baja. The B pillar is made like a ring, and consists of 8 steel pieces welded together with a metal rod in the middle. I don't know how strong Escorts and Sierras are in an accident and they walked away from there Subarus. Buy a car or an armour plated truck.

if your gonna have another Cossie, you need to steer clear of the Saph's & three doors, otherwise it will be wet carpets for you sir...

I love the Escort Cossie, it for me is the best of the bunch. The older ones suffer rust & rotting sill's beneath those skirts, plus the dash ain't good either.
