Thumbs up

many many thanks for every ones advice ive got many ideas and learnt alot. so this proves the uk spec engines can take more than 300 if done properly and they dont just pop like that unless u purely abuse them.

finally could sum plz define to me what is a 3 port boost solenoid used for and what do u mean by lagged headers and downpipe? isit like anti lag exhaust system or sumtin?

further more wat does a oil catch tank & earthing kit do?

thanks for all the kind replies

Not a pro at all of this but i think i know?

First you do not need an earthing kit or a oil catch tank for the power your looking for so don't waste your money.

The 3 port is better at controlling boost and also means you can produce more then you could with a 2 port.

Lagged headers and downpipe??? Do you mean ported?

I think by lagged, they mean "wrapped" mate. This is done to a) keep underbonnet temps own and b) has the other effect of keeping the gasses in the pipe hotter, thus traveling faster! Ported and wrapped headers are a good mod, and hilt you've got your hands dirty, you may as well do the Down pipe as well!

440s not big enough for the 18g turbo to be used to it's potential mate; and its more of a 360bhp turbo, not a 300bhp one!

You'll want to add a walbro fuel pump to your list, and a 3 port boost solenoid, unless your car already has one. If you have a VTA dump valve suggest you either a) revert back to recirc, b) take the Dv off completely.

well i aint gonna run it at full potential, i only want the 300hp for now, i will be adding things like the walbo as i do need more fuel coming through, why wouldnt 440cc injectors be enough considering quite a few people run them on that sort of power, also why would you remove the dump valve, due to it harming the turbo as if u remove it all together are you not going to hurt the turbo more due to stalling, plus at the mo i got 140k on my engine but it is very strong due to top quality maintance with oil and filter changes at 3k and no expence speared!!!

talking of dump valves iknw they have a disadvantage on the scoobys i.e funny idling etc, but still im craving to get 1......its not like the engine will det str8 away will it?

many uk spec owners have them without a map they still run fine.

so wat do u reckon can one get away with it?

If you only want 300 bhp the TD05 18g is NOT the right turbo mate. Turbo choice is always a compromise between power potential and lag: the more power the more lag: hence no point strapping a big turbo on there and suffering an increase in boost threshold and lag and not getting the benefit of more power.

A Hybrid TD04 would be the best for 300.

witht he spec though you should hit 320-330 easily, with plenty of space on the injectors
