I didn't watch LOM - the whole 70's thing didn't appeal, so I had no idea what this was about.
For a NEW viewer, it explained the whole "thing" pretty well, so it leads the viewer in what to expect.
Is this different to LOM?
Anyhoo, enjoyed it immensely (I'm an 80's kid!) - yes, it's paper-thin, but it's ONLY a TV programme, and a bit of fun.
Might look a LOM after tho.... will wait and see
Verdict? Entertaining, but nothing too heavy.
all IMHO, of course!

Ok 2 episodes in and heres my take (I loved LOM BTW)
Theme tune - worse
Other Music - Better (but I got into music in the 80's even though I was born in the 70's)
Keely in her 80's gear - very sexy
Quattro - good car, not the right model for the year but who cares. 'tina better car for a DCI
Plot - worse so far
Keely jabbering on about her delusion - worse
London v Manchester - make no real odds to me each show is tailored to its time/location
For me my favourite LOM episodes were the ones wear Sam gets down to some 70's policing and theres less of the flash backs etc etc - hopefully this will happen in Ashes more.

I think it was a big improvement on last week. DCI is getting into his stride and is beginning to sort out the irritating Keeley Hawkes. The good old one liners are re-appearing-in spades!

Four minutes into the latest episode and the music is great - The Ruts "Staring at the Rude Boys" big up for the choice of music. And Joe Jackson ain't bad either!

I was half on the t'internet and half watching the show/listening to the music but it seemed a lot, lot better than the previous two shows. Less of the flashbacks and more of the action. I thought it was really good this week. And more Quattro action too Not enough of that if you ask me but it was good to see it again. Oh...and some stocking action didn't go amiss either

Watched the first episode on BBCi last week, and watched the second and third episodes on telly last night. I absolutely loved LOM but I didn't really get into the first episode of Ashes - thoroughly enjoyed episodes 2 and 3 though, the DCI seems more in his stride now!

I thought last night's was very good. They are beginning to work together now and she is really getting into the part.
Really enjoyed it and looking forward to next week.

Ha! The Clash's London Calling, an Audi Quattro and a handbrake turn! Glad I recorded that I'll watch that bit over and over again! Class!
Good episode! Even the flashbacks make sense.

LOL Sal. I was concentrating more on the music so to speak, The Clash, Spandau Ballet, The Teardrop Explodes...some good stuff out there that I'd forgotten about. Did enjoy the show this week though....a bit of the old smoke and mirrors MI5 is always worth a watch

Starting to think this is total dross now compared to LOM, that awful woman and poor effort at replicating Sam Tyler's story absolutely ruins it. They should just have made it a 'gritty' 80's cop drama centred on DCI GH and dropped the whole travel back in time thing.
