Why the attitude mate. You're advertising the car to the general public. The general public have obviously been put off by the add and have offered advice.

You don't have to take it do you?

Right - I'd be interested where on the Pistonheads advert (to which this thread refers) it says come and view. Interestingly, the word 'come' does not even appear in your ad, so please do not behave like a spoilt child and perhaps even listen to advice.

The car has been a dog. You want to get rid. You have already dropped the price on Pistonheads, and yet still no takers. Any chance you may wonder why?

Or maybe you are right, we (the potential buying public) are wrong and you'll get a sale. Good luck to you.

Some people have no clue about selling or marketing, or do not want to be told.

And not sure I ever said I wanted it, or was even interested? Because I'm not - it may fall apart down the end of the road given the luck you have had with it. Plenty more out there if I was looking that read better and seem sound.

I have to agree, the word "come" does not appear anywhere on the page. So why the attitude?

I read the ad and just assumed it was a wind up as well.

Also, you have one picture of the car and you couldn't even get the whole car in?

I presume you don't work in advertising?

Trouble is, as you neglected to answer the other comments, this is what people will look at. There are hundreds of Impreza's to choose from, so why would someone risk anything with yours when you cap off the description with you are not willing to meet. You give one photo (when people expect loads more), you are very honest (I commend you but do not think this is what will sell a car), and provide too much description.

I'm sure the car is decent now, but it's a risk at that age. Then add on all the problems you have had, the intense descriptions of how you dented the door with your knew, and people think different (and generally negative) thoughts.

If you think telling the truth and lying and two (and the only two) distinct things, then you have a problem. Not being honest does not make you a liar. I just don't think you need to say everything in so much detail or be descriptive (since you have been). Then end up with something that says you may have missed details!

You should take all the comments as constructive criticism, and amend the ad if you want to sell, because I doubt you will. Or you could go off in a huff!

Paul, perhaps you should take the time to read through this constructive post and take on board why is written.

Whilst you are being honest it does nto hurt to put people off or create the wrong impression of car and owner.

Your ad has not come across to well and could do with a few tweaks to it.

Right I will apologise, as I didnt click the link, just assumed it was the ebay advert. However, as none of you actually know my situation, and are obviously not interested in my car, I will now stop posting here, as is just a waste of time arguing with people who obviously know best. NO I dont work i advertising, and yes, I only have one photo, due to the fact it was the only one I could find of my car and I have no camera, but thanks to Mickywrx, who has been round today and taken a few more.......

I think the infractions dished out on this thread are a joke and reflect badly on scoobynet as a whole.

"The clock faces had been changed but the cable was running in KMPH, so I bought a converter and fitted it, now run in MPH, slightly low but this is better than high for speed cameras and the likes Car has just under 90k. "

Eh, don't all imports get converted to mph as part of the SVA test

Agree Bubba, I'm not arsed about mine, I not so petty as to infract people on what is a place for people to air there feelings if need be.

The poster was just sticking up for himself after his car/add was slated by people who know nothing about him or his car. I'm guessing the infractor is one of those people who likes to mouth off down the pub and then screams like a baby when someone gives him a good kicking.

Likes to take the **** but can't take it....... am I correct Mr infractor??

poor guy is trying to flog a car!!! best thing you could have done is just put a relatively small advert, saying 93 impreza for sale, included are all receipts of work carried out... thats all you needed to have put, not a war and peace on what is wrong with it... because of that, you have been taken for a ride in this thread! at the end of the day, once the car has gone, its gone, and is not you worry any more... think you might have blown your chance on flogging it for the asking price... honesty is sometimes the best policy, but on this occasion, i dont think it is.. sorry mate, but i have to be HONEST!

What gets me is if he had said nothing and sold the car on and someone found out it had had a lot of work carried out they would be shouting about it. And the usual suspects on here would be slating him for not telling the truth..........dammed if you do dammed if you don't.

yeah thats true... but if someone buys the car,a nd finds something he hasnt mentioned, they will slate him even more, probs for not been honest enuff... catch 22... bloke is trying to flog his motor, tried to be honest (a bit too honest) and he gets a thread like this about it... yeah, i had my say about it, but sometimes, as seen beofre on s net, things get way outta hand, and the threads turn into world war 3...

let the guy sell his car, in peace.. if your not interested in buying, then just leave him alone!

Saying he bought a ****ter, will not make the potential buyer think 'oh, tell me more!'

TBH i wouldnt be interested in buying it, looking at the ad.... but i'm looking past that, and questioning why people are openly having a go at the lad... yeah his ad wasnt the best i have seen, but at the end of the day, what gives us the right to slate him... looking at the posts, people are trying to help and advise him, but others are purely taking the micky, which isnt really fair.

hmmm.....

Well I'd like to say how REFRESHING it is for someone to post an honest 'no holes barred' synopsis of their car so that anyone wishing to view it knows in advance of travelling what the condition and recent history is.

I'd like to think that I would do business with WRXPaul79 if I was in the market for a doer upper due to his honesty, which it seems the majority of posters on this thread seem to think is funny, and would in fact lie to sell this car on!

Good work Paul, refreshing to see some honesty in this "community" of so called Subaru enthusiasts

I see no problem in the guy telling it like it is. any used car you buy is a minefield of potential problems. at least he's said whats gone wrong and had fixed. if anything its less to worry about. you buy a 2 grand scooby you WILL pay out for parts sooner or later no matter if the damn things been driven by a 78 yr old monk and kept in a heated garage its entire life and has a blemish free paintjob shinier than right said freds bonce!

if you want to slate an add trawl ebay and go and see what some of those halfwit fools are trying to palm off onto people by hyping up some old ****box that has ''never let me down once honest mate''. for 2 grand you would be lucky to buy a wrx wagon with a slap happy piston, dog hair in the back, *** burned seats and more accident damage than Stevie Wonders Caddillac.its a fair car for the cash.

good luck in selling.

Can't fault the guy for being honest, cuz the only other option would be to try and sell it without mentioning any of that stuff. And that, in my opinion, would be worse. I agree the advert is probably wayy too much info and will put a lot of people off, but y'know....that's how it's gonna be for a car like this! Ahh well. I really don't understand this bit tho.....

"The clock faces had been changed but the cable was running in KMPH, so I bought a converter and fitted it, now run in MPH, slightly low but this is better than high for speed cameras and the likes Car has just under 90k".

So hang on a minute......the speedo reading LOW is better than HIGH for speed cameras and the like?!?! So if the speedo reads LOW.....and ur driving along in a 30 limit, at what you think is 30mph according to the speedo......cuz the speedo is reading LOW.....ur actually going faster than 30.....and then FLASH......you've been done!!! Yeah much better than when the speedo reads high, like every other car on the planet! Doh! lol

What I meant was the car was lower than what the speedo reads. Another example of my crap wording. Anyhoo, the car didnt sell, so I guess all the plonkers were right....

TBF the advert was/is maybe too honest, like I think I said to Paul this morning.

At the end of the day I'd rather see an honest advert, than one that was a pack of crap.

Lack of pictures obviously doesn't help, but I took some for him today. Busy hosting them on Photobucket since I'm having bother emailing more than two at a time to Paul. I'll have to stick them on a disc for him, I think.

Pics can be found here: mickywrx/Pauls WRX - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
