We don't have any street lights at all here. Hasn't been a problem so far.

IMO, there are too many street lights, too close together.

It was fine with the old yellow SOX lights. But now most have been with replaced with lamps using SON bulbs, they are far brighter (although crap rendering, so you don't "see" things any better ). But they are spaced the same distance.

The result is, since my area has been blanketed with these new lights. Load of cars are now driving around on sidelights! (winds me up more than foglamps , they found the switch - obviously, but christ, nearly every car needs two clicks of the switch to turn on dipped headlamps ).

Not only is the rendering poor, they are too closely spaced together, they use more electricty. And contrary to manufacturers claims, the SON lamps don't seem to be as reliable as the old SOX lamps (which is supposed to have a shorter lifespan).

So the tax payer has paid for too many new lights (as they are too close together), which cost more to run (too many + higher wattage), and they don't last any longer than the ones they replaced. Now that progress for you
