Scum like that dont deserve their place in society, equally they dont deserve to be 'kept' by the tax payer. They have waived all their rights by taking another life so in my opinion the tax payers money would be better spent eliminating them.
As for deterrent, it may not make all pshyco's think twice but even if it where 1 in a 100 then thats got to be a good thing.
Personnally i find it difficult to understand how anyone can defend the life of an abusing murderer, especially when children are involved.

Ultimatley do we really want to line ourselves up with countries with appalling human rights records, these are the only one left with the death penalty (with the exception of the US)

Well have you seen the news lately? Dianna inquest freak-show, McCartney v McCartney freak-show, and so on.

Let's not devalue ourselves by sinking to this level, lock him up and throw away the key.

Mcartney... Diana.... high profile...

this is some piece of s**t that abused his daughter it goes on all the time... if there was a better deterrent than bed and breakfast at her majestys leisure with no community charge to pay and meals cooked for them then maybe just maybe it would make some of them think twice

You missed my point by a mile; I'm not defending this animals life, I'm defending all life

If killing is wrong then it's wrong, I'm sorry you have a problem with that, but it's what I believe

I strongly suspect that this man will have an experience of prison somewhat different to the one you describe

I very much doubt that..... he will be protected.. It would be against his human rights to put him in any danger (and no Im not getting at you - the system in general)

Which therefore includes child killers does it not.
That being the case i take my hat off to you as if anyone harmed my kids in that way i know what i would do and it wouldn't involve them staying at a HRH Hotel for 15 years.

Now I'm really confused by that statement; are you saying that because an innocent child is murdered that it doesn't matter if we kill the wrong person in an act of revenge/justice (call it what you want)?

And there was me thinking we were having an adult discussion.

I'm no happy clapper matey, you don't have to be a religious nut to have morals

Can't someone hold a valid point of view without being labelled 'Religious' or 'Liberal'

Everyday innocent people(like that little girl) are killed, what i mean is if people admit to these crime's,they should face the death penalty.(in my opinion)

Well that's your valid opinion, mine is different, ultimately though neither of our stand points would have saved this poor child from an appalling end.

I'm not in favour of the death penalty as said before. It is not enough of a deterant - someone like this bloke would do it no matter what the consequences.

I'm not a bible basher either and I am entitled to my opinion too.

True. But no offence to you,Its because of do-gooders that this country is in a state like it is,we need to bring in some sort of deterent/capital punishment. So if it means hanging some evil people then so be it(all in my opinion)

I would genuinely feel very differently about this issue if I thought it would stop these crimes, but the evidence just doesn't support it.

In other words if we could stop these monsters preying on children by having the death penalty, then sign me up.

We'd then need to have a debate about, which other categories of murder would warrant the death penalty

I dont feel that peole are having a go... more defending their opinion maybe as Martin is... like I say its what makes us all different... It would be pretty boring if we all thought the same wouldnt it.

Its a very raw subject to be discussing with people you hardly know

I agree. I don't disagree that if people like this weren't around, the world would be a better place. However, he was. What are we going to do to stop people like him doing what he's done?

No idea.... but can only think if the deterrent was more severe then maybe people would think twice... and also they wouldnt be out again to do anything like this again .... What is to stop him when he has been released starting another family and doing this again ?

2 kids a boy 6 and girl 20 months My daughter (Jessica ironically) just got out of hsopital today so I'm feeling like aparticularly pretective father today. And if it was of my children then I'd want the ******* killed, but thats not the point though is it? We are talking about criminal justice not victims revenge.

BTW I know you are not having a go at me, this case is so appalling it's bound to bring out strong views. My feelings of hate and disgust towards the 'man' that did this are no different to yours or any other person.
The only thing we differ on is what should we as a society do with such people
