Wtf is going on here.
Was on from about 8.30 to 10.30ish on Locked. Had some good games. Blinder was on. There was some advice being thrown about. It is very difficult not to sound very patronising when you dont know the guy on the other end. I'm not very vocal at the best of times however.
Started to get busier later. Which means the tactical play starts to disappear and people start to play differently to relieve a bit of stress. I've been on when I just want to run round prentending I'm shooting the boss and couldn't really give a stuff if the objectives are met. Others I want to plant (and gaurd) the bomb at all costs. The chances of everyone being in the same mood at the same time are pretty negligible.
Steve, at one point I shot you from the roof in assault2k when you were on the bridge. You were jumping around but at that range I just kept popping away with the M4 and eventually you died. Bugger all to do with lag, ping or skill. With C/S there was only gong to be one winner in that situation. The guy stood still taking careful shots. Next round you stood in the same place and awped me on the roof while I was moving. Cant see the prob myself. C/S has some oddities which are very frustrating but uts C/S thats at fault. At least once you complained you let off an entire cli but still died. There is an argument that if you let of an entire clip
in the time the other guy did a few shots, you were bound to recoil all over the shop.
Even at the LAN game C/S still produced some strange affects. People dying when they shouldn't have. And I think the overall order and skill of players was pretty much as expected. (My position was of course unrealistically low because I kept getting distracted with the stats on the screen next to me
Stats. Are good they're fun. I don't think we're about to elect world leaders from they're cs stats though. The TKs, bomb plants etc are all interesting occasioanlly. Other times some people are out for a good frag count on the night. Its their life. good luck to them.
Think one or two need to relax and take a break. Its their for enjoyment. If you're not enjoying it do something else.

I'm gonna have to catch up with reading this topic. Obviously unlike some people I have built Firewall1 NG, configured, tested and installed. Went live 30mins ago........

i'm doing ok tiggs.
sitting on the drive is a saab 9-3 2.2 tid se and a vw golf gt pd 130.
golf goes like **** off a shovel ! bloody impressive acceleration. taking it to warrington for the day tomorrow.
saab totally brand new 270 miles on the clock and deffo not as fast as the golf. fully auto climate control though and heated front seats ! never had 'em.....nice warm bum on the way home and its only 5 mins from work to my house - nice in winter i guess !
so its saab to bristol on thursday............
then saab or golf to deepest darkest Wales on Friday
and some more saab over the weekend !
neighbours will be talking........4 cars here at the mo and i had an a4 last weekend !

If you cant build servers/firewalls, redesign networks, document solutions and read Scoobynet all day then you're just not trying hard enough
Also need plenty of time for drinking coffee and bitching with your mates about the project management (or lack of).
And my pay review was postponed tody so talk to me about sh*te days

but HH seriously i've been busy project managing, test driving saabs and golfs, ordering servers, arranging national app rollouts and drinking coffee
and yet i had time to keep up with the inane posting of a drg addict, watch a newbie and a dog go for it and have time to moan about isdn / bt blah blah and most importantly post several ffs / wtf / bbq / nfw
u really r not trying hard enuff dude.

My day?
75 mins drive to work
First couple of hours spent co-ordinating, followed by some web install/testing, then back to co-ordinating half & half with controlling, then some more testing/implementation & finishing up with another couple of hours controlling. 9.5 hours with just a MacD for lunch whilst working

There were some other things involved in that regarding telecoms, project implementation, new sales, customer service/pr, new product design & strategy together with some HR work. Prob some other stuff that I can't be bothered to remember
Oh well - keeps PTMW! in petrol (just!)

Tried Q2 on a E10K but it was only running on two out of the 64 cpus. (limitation of Q2)
Also there is much talk on the Valve hlds_linux aliases about porting HL to sparc. They have not ruled it out.
