i think money would be better spent elsewhere personally, like hospital beds, and fixing potholes....

Daz that money was donated by people who wanted it spent on this monument. If they wanted it spent on a hospital bed or a road (we all give more than enough for those 'causes' already) they'd have donated it elsewhere
To all those complaining about the cost of the windows, if you look at the building, it does have rather large windows, and toughened glass will have been used (as required by law), which ain't cheap
Plus I bet the £20k a pop is the price for replacement, which will include the clean-up and the fitting, seems pretty reasonable to me

With your line of thinking, that money should have been spent elsewhere, do you then think when one of your loved ones dies, once they're buried, for example, you should not bother putting up a headstone as the money could be better spent somewhere else. This maybe an odd comparison, but I only ask because the money spent on his memorial came from charity, not your pocket.

And even if it was, do you really think the cost of a memorial would make a difference?
Do you feel the same about the dome, or wembley stadium or the Diana memorial any other building/memorial paid for with public money?

Wembley was financed in the main by the FA. the Millenium Dome and the Dead Whiney Bint's pond were complete wastes of public money

This monument was paid for by a charity, not taxes. Even if you have a problem with it for whatever reason, it is a disgrace this vandalism has happened.

I think about £200 million of public money went to Wembley - but in the main this was from the national lottery - Which I have no problem at all with, it is exactly the sort of thing it is for
I would have far more of an issue with lottery funds going to the NHS etc
