Hi frazy looks stunning do you have plans to get a second then ???? don’t think the whip around is going well (I have 25p and a old pack of chewing gum in my pocket that I am willing to donate ). What make harnesses did you go for and any particular reason for pick them ones ?? (I have seen Prodrive ones on the web )
You and rich s202 have really tempted me to go the same route maybe on a slightly small budget, ok a few questions for you… did you go and see / test those seats for size and comfort, it has been said that I am on the lager size (lies all lies) and my dad would also need to fit into them. Where did you get your harness bar from just trying to budget “adds it to the ever growing list”
Very impressed mate, scooby staying then

Right from the top...
No i have no plans to buy a second yet as : a) theyre very expensive, b) i have a vast mix/sizes of passengers in my car so its not ideal.
I chose TRS harness's, theyre the WRC magnum ultralites. They come with 3" shoulders and 2" waists. The 2" waist straps are more user friendly than the 3" IMO. As they are teh ultralites, they have billet ally adjusters which are much nicer/lighter than that of the steel ones.
No i didnt try my actual seat but i had sat in one before and knew it would be okay (diet pending lol)
I deffo recomend trying out a few seats beforehand. They all feel very different and you need to be comfortable. Most brands do a XL or GT version of their seats and are cut a little wider than the usual seats. This may be a beter suited seat for you.
As for the harness bar i had it made by a company called Speedware in the good old US of A. Theyre not cheap as its stainless.
Sparco do one that is powdercoated steel for about $400 IIRC.
Hope that helps mate

Well im just in guys.
Finally finished the runners today, i got the seat properly bolted in tonight.
Im absolutely stoked with the results. The runners fitted perfectly, opperated perfectly. The driving position is perfect, everything is absolutely bang on. Im so chuffed with the results. Especially after it had been such a frustrating task to get it to fit the way i wanted it to.
The view from outside the car looks mental, the car looks like a propper tool now and really makes the interior look focused. Ive set the seat approx 1" lower than stock and the height is perfect for me, pedals are good and steering wheel is just right too.
I went out for a quick drive just to see how it feels... all i can say is amazing. I mean it when i say you literally do not move at all once in it. The car feels so much more alive and you can feel so much more through the chassis.
The view is what really bothered me when i first purchased the seat. But im really happy to say that i have lost almost now field of vision i previously had, mirrrors, blindspots and b pillars are all in view when required.
Heres a few snaps taken on my fone of the mounts i made. Theyre fully reinforced modified OEM mounts.. i hope i have made it look as factory as possible.
Once again, sorry for the naff pics.

what are you trying to say! big Bones I tell you,
good point about the passenger Varying in different sizes tho, and I am on a kind of on a diet at the min so I am ready for some endurance quad racing later in the year (my other toy )
Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate looks really impressive . don’t know if I will be able to afford to do similar as engine work is 1st on the project list and being it started life as a gental WRX it seem to be getting expensive. Do you lose the use of the seat belts with that bar in place by that I mean could I keep the passenger side standard until budget permits. Looks great tho just don’t want to make the mistake of going for cheap “OK” seats and then dumping them after a few months ….. Will have to empty the piggy bank again
Next time your out with your camera a picture from the back seats across left to right would be nice to see that flash wheel and seat combo

Looking amazing there Frayz dare I say another top notch job
Interesting to hear you have dropped the seat height in the car, when ever I have been in a new age sti I have always felt the seating position to be a little high as well, even when mounted in a classic you get the same sensation so it must me in the make up of the seat design.
