My dentist showed me some just after he sandblasted my teeth (air and baking soda I think he said), and it wouldn't even be him doing the bleaching so not a sales pitch. Definitely looked better than the sandblasting. I have 1-2 espresso coffees and 1-2 mugs of tea per day, no other staining, but they get worse over 6 mths.

As he has not actually done anything to a forum member he is safe LOL

Shaun

Did I offer to bleach Stephens teeth or did I offer him a "deal" on Whitening? Anyway if I did his whitening as long as I did not put my fingers past his lips into his mouth I would be okay.

Jer ......I did add a LOL

Brendan, the legal issues are complex

In 1992 bleaching teeth came under the EU cosmetic devices regulations intended for skin creams and bleaching hair. Concentrations for cosmetic products had not to exceed 1% hydrogen peroxide..great for bleaching hair but not strong enough to whiten teeth.

A German court overruled this and the EU now consider bleaching teeth falls within medical devices allowing stronger concentrations of bleach. Only the UK failed to recognise the juristiction of this German court and sticks with the original ruling.

Optident took The government to court and won but it was overturned on appeal.

Manufacturers get around the ruling by providing no DFU (directions for use) hence the bleach could be used to clean the toilet as long as trading standards is concerned.

However once it is put into the mouth it's blatantly obvious that it's being used for tooth whitening and thus becomes a trading standards issue.

Trading standards can't be ar$ed to chase 22,000 people so they turn a blind eye

The GDC also turn a blind eye if it's being done by a dentist..they have told hairdressers etc. to stop bleaching but they have simply told the GDC to take a hike LOL

The GDC are currently using "mystery shopers" at non-dentist run clinics to see if any health and safety issues are being broken. Otherwise the GDC don't seem too bothered!!

As for using a light...it makes no difference if you shine a light while surgery bleaching or not.

HTH

Cheers Shaun

I know EU medicines directives are being updated at present but don't know if that includes "cosmetic devices", I don't think so.

I bleach the toilet to remove surface deposits and reveal the white porcelain underneath. Since teeth arent naturally white (despite what Americans, and increasingly 'us' think) and are naturally a bit yellow, how does bleaching teeth work?

I always thought that the way to get the white teeth effect like Jordan & Jodie Marsh (WAY too white) was with porcelain veneers glued to the teeth?

Well I had my dentist approved whitening procedure completed (2 Weeks with trays then a “power session”) and I was pleased with the results….for about 3 days. Then I noticed that the bottom of my front 2 teeth were changing to a darker colour, which is now quite noticeable. I wonder if this will even out…. I am now trying to get an appointment to see the dentist because I am really not happy !

Just use Tippex - gives the same look - couple it with a nice orangey fake tan and you too can look just like Simon Cowell from X-Factor.

Honestly, this site is turning into a regular chutney ferrets disco with threads about teeth, haircuts etc... Someone will ask what lube is best yet, and does their bum look big in these trousers

Have to agree with that and most of this sites DJ's would be more at home with **** probes than strobes.

Still, they can always sue, knowing fully their rights!!

Whiten your teeth - conform to the media stereotype of what is right, you know you want to! (don't get all serious on me, peeps, I'm just messing with ya). I think I'll paint my teeth blue to be different
