You old *******s... Theres loads of great music about, stop listening to the rubbish being promoted on Radio 1 and you might hear it.

Totally agree with Davegtt

A really small selection from my i-pod of those who according to my ‘acoustically biased’ opinion have released ‘good’ (3 stars or more) albums recently …..

The Decemberists!

For good acoustic music, check out "Iron and Wine" also.

???

I'm an old git and I got into Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Kate Nash and Hot Chip through late night Radio 1. BBC Radio Suffolk isn't exactly cutting edge.

Foo Fighters just keep churning them out: Echoes, Silence patience and grace is as good as the oldies.

Some of the preceeding albums was a little iffy and had me thinking that they might be going downhill, but this is one of the best yet.

Slipknot-Iowa

Green Day-Dookie

Screaming Trees-Uncle Anesthesia

Slipknot not to everyone's taste but beyond all the pretend gore there are some great albums

Hate the Artic Monkeys

The Artic Monkey's do nothing for me whereas Slipknot do...two totally different genres. Not to say you can't like different genres, I for example quite enjoy Andrea Bocielli but the AM's do nowt for me.

The Killers, Hot Fuss was a great album for me. Sam's Town not so great.

Good call to those mentioning The Decemberists, a quality band.

From the same stable as them come Neutral Milk Hotel, the 98 album In the Aeroplane over the sea is excellent.

And yes, there are lots of good bands coming out lately with great music, you might need to look a little further than the charts, but it is there.

Some of my most recent favourites:

The Decemberists
LCD Soundsystem
Arcade Fire
The Young Knives
Interpol
Cherry Ghost
The National
Midlake
The Veils
Babyshambles - whatever you think of Pete, they have some quality music
Doves
The Maccabees
Peter Bjorn and John
TV on the Radio
Au Revoir Simone
Hot Chip
!!!
Goose
and so much more...
