I was in Italy once on a meal out with a person from the company I was visiting. Not being a speak'a'de'lingo type I asked my host what something was from the menu. Bacon he replied, so I ordered some of that as a starter. When it arrived it was sliced bacon fat. I wouldnt have minded if it was crispy, but it had been boiled or something and it was just white slithers of soft bacon fat. I tried one piece and nearly hurled. It makes me feel ill just thinking about it.

That'd be the pants crappy Liver we get in the UK. Granted its awful; wouldn't even make good offal. Oddly (or more justifyably) there's a group of people in the UK who avidly campaign at how awful our liver dishes are here, and do claim it should not taste like it does for various reasons (like the crap our animals are fed on).

I doubted them until I inadvertantly ordered some higado at a tapas bar. And was converted.

Some proper fresh grilled liver as a Tapas dish tastes totally different, its absolutely delicious.

Tinned carrots. My mum's roast potatoes.

Lee.........I never thought I could eat an oyster, but my brother brought a load when we went to see him, so I had to. I was shocked at how nice they were! . Down in (nearly) one....they were quite big.....at least they didn't come down my nose!

Sheep's eye curry? Raw celery, pears and jellied eels. Other than that, not much I won't trough, hence the fat ar$e! Thrush pate, wild boar, baby hares, sashimi, oysters, chewed if fresh enough, brawn, foie gras, I'll try most things. The legacy of 80-90 trips to France, some of which was staying on a Breton farm, where chickens that don't lay get turned into Sunday roast, and fluffy magician style white rabbits get turned into pate, or a tasty stew. That's where my Dad was offered the head & neck of the roast chicken as he was the "guest of honour".

Oh and I've "drunk" a pint of Guinness through my nose for a bet with no straws involved. Interesting the next morning!

J4ckos mate did a barbecue, he was bladdered, it was smoke damaged rather than cooked, he then with a flourish garnished it with fire lighter.

Tripe, black pudding many many years ago, my father loved the stuff though. I will never eat that again given the choice. Will never eat oysters, snails and the like, never tried it, never want to. Won't eat liver again, especially chooks liver. I have eaten sheeps heart, which was quite nice, and pigs trotters are OK I guess, but won't eat them given a choice.

From my 20 years working and eating with the Japanese, very little japanese food is salty - granted Miso soup made badly can be but you were probably unlucky. Shame - probably the healthiest food you can ever eat - made well.

Indeed true. The island of Okinawa (Sp?) has some of the longest living people on earth. It is now however changing as a result of the Japanses love of the American dream.

Blaady 'ell! There's some folks on 'ere with weird culinary leanings!

My brother can't eat mango....makes him gag...

My mum once made my dad toad-in-the-hole, and when he started eating it, he said it tasted funny.....turned out she'd made him toad-in-egg-custard!
