When I was looking at getting my first scoob, I read an article, and it's advice for buying a second hand Impreza went along the lines of...

"Look out for accident damage as it is often the case with these cars that the owners enthusiasm exceeds their ability"

I like to drive my Scoob quickly, but only where I can see it is safe. 30 limits are there for a reason, and (unless I was had by the dealer) Scoobs don't come with a licence to drive as fast as you like wherever you like. You speed in a 30 zone, and what do we get - 20 zones and speed bumps. Great

Matt

I took the Fiesta round Donno, sure it was fun but it gets a bit dull after a while, plus you can't go round a track on a tuesday night at half eleven, you know just when you get the urge!!

I think the point I was trying to make was more that I'm not scared of the car anymore but more scared of what I can do, I've reached the limit of what the car can do, does that make sense?

I can put my sensible head on for day to day driving and do try to limit my silly sessions to late night empty roads but I have considered doing an advanced thingmy, maybe it's time to look into it in more detail?

Cheers

Bob

heh, people know what I am like with this situation. I have the odd play on the roads and I enjoy it. Howver there is a difference between racing and enthusiastic driving. I had a play with a "British sports car" at an unknown location last weekend, we were playing it safe (lifting off on bends etc) but we still put our feet down to enjoy ourselves. Nobody was hurt, nobody was at risk, so what, may I ask is the problem? Ok it is illegal, esp. at the speeds we were going at, but the car was built to do these speeds safely and although I aint Carlos Saintz, I am competent enough to keep a car on the road when all it involves is a couple of sweeping bends. The pinkos will probably string me up for this, but as long as its sensible and not taken too seroiusly, playing on the queens highway aint all that bad IMO, especially when there are far worse things going on in the world.

Rich, I couldn't have said that you can't prove anything (nips off to edit previous post )

Bob, I have found that the quicker the car I've had the further from its limits I've driven it. On a certain journey of 110 miles I've done many, many times the car that I've done it quickest in was a std diesel sierra (0-60 around 17 seconds) Beacuse the scoob is that much quicker you don't feel the need to drive it near its limits (maybe I'm just getting old though )
I did find with my last car a similar problem to what you are experiencing, it spent so much of its time sitting at speeds which were a bit silly I felt I had to get rid of it before I lost my license.
I can do the same journey in the same time sitting 30mph slower in the Impreza just because the gaps required for overtaking are so much less, and I don't feel the need to do it any quicker.
