done for speeding b/////ds

I do around 35000 miles a year (work and play) and there's many a time I'll overtake somebody in a 60 zone doing 45-50 (that's them, not me) only to have them right up my chuff 200 yards into the next 30 zone. I have no wish to cause anyone else any injuries while I'm driving so I respect the 30 limit, and most 40 limits. However, nowadays there are an increasing number of 40, 50 and 60 limits that have no logic behind them whatsoever, and quite frankly driving at 70 on the motorway unless you're playing 'I Spy' is so tedious I might be inclined to swerve off the road into the nearest solid object. Since I started driving/riding in '84 year on year the enjoyment has been gradually leeched out of it. I would rather concentrate fully on the road but put me on a motorway with an inexplicable 50 limit then do you really expect me to obey it just because the government/some council tells me to. Having to keep one eye out for pigs or cameras might cheese me off but not nearly as much as having some GPS device in my car forcing me to stick to all the limits (this is where we're headed so enjoy it while you can). If this government has its' way it will turn us all into a bunch of mindless drones bumbling around in eco-friendly hybrid cars which we can park outside our HIPS A-rated eco-house at night, whilst they fly around on expenses pocketing the cash they claim they are paying non-existent staffers.
So I say use your head; don't speed in built up areas, but outside them if nobody else is at risk then have some fun while you can, don't drive beyond your abilities, and keep one eye out for the authorities trying to spoil your fun by taking you in to 'the Ministry' for re-programming.
The original poster just got unlucky, in real terms it probably wouldn't have been a problem doing 100 down that road on another day, and to anyone saying " it was a 30 so he was speeding " I say why not order your Prius now?

Do yourself a favour, get a road angel 2 problem solved, i bought one on ebay for £60 and it has already saved me getting done for speeding at least 3 times, so its more than paid me back the £60 i paid for it, and more importantly, no points on my licence, money well spent me thinks.

a word of comfort. You will have to pay the fine and take the points thats the hard bit,but look at the ammount of times you have sped before and not been caught and i would presume it was more than 6mph over the speed limit.your insurance will not be affected although you will have to tell them.It certainly sharpens your mind for future speed traps and finally just get over it and move on.
i got caught in a simlar situation at 36mph in a 30 and my points have just expired and it flys by
