As with a lot of jobs, I'm sure after 10 years with some exams and a load of experience then they can earn a decent wage.

Compare the min. wage with starting salaries for a lot of graduates, who may have spent 3 or 4 years in UNI, plus 2 years doing A levels and has a big debt from it, and it isnt that bad for someone who has done FA since their GCSE's.
For the sake of record, as it were, the lad in question is not moaning about the wages but was just trying to find out about minimum wage entitlements. I don't know him that well but he is a nice lad and a friend of my son's.

I completely understand the wages/experience/graduate debate. My daughter recently got a decent degree along with a big debt and has struggled to get a reasonable job - the usual Catch 22, no proper experience argument. My son, who didn't go to uni, potters around the County teaching music and earns 4 times the min wage doing what he loves. dl
