Tell you what, I may be getting on a bit, but I'm deadly accurate with a buttered bun at dinner dances.

Charge temp monitoring and correction. Live mapping excellent. Total control.

Actualy not, one is a set of offset's on the first, however the ability to allocate which of the maps works with what others is great, Anders, you can already have twin maps on the oem ecu, if your mapper sets them up, and you can also access virtually all parameters with the addition of the ECUTEK version of the PSi 3 data display, real time adjustments by the driver to suit conditions. as for the resolution there isn't much in it, "live mapping", now you don't mean on the road I'm sure, is obviously quicker and easier but if your mapper is happy with the oem method then its of no odds to the end result, since the MY2001 to 2005 map updates only take about 12 secs of programming its no big deal.
In your case the Simtek would probably bring something extra to the party
correctly mapped. But if YOU want to be able to adjust things (and take that responsibility) the the OEM plus data display would allow that.
BTW Simon the dinner dance Andy refers to was supposed to be a red carpet affair

As we also do Ecutek as well as Simtek, I'm certainly not going to argue with my good buddy Bob on that one.
One advantage of Simtek over Ecutek. If an intercooler pipe falls off, you can get home, and if you're going to come back on that one Bob, please try and make it funny...

I think I'll stick with my current ECU and spend the cash else where, may be towards an engine rebuild.

There you go then.
Bit of an update on the Simtek twin maps, chatting to the ecu designer today there is no apparant problem reverting the offset map adjustment to full on secondary maps, apparantly this was the mode in any case and the offset option was a "rev 2".
Alan like Andy says you need to do the homework on the oem ecu's,
even the MY99-00 jecs can be driven mafless, there is a lovely little (very) speed density fuel map built in just for that purpose if you look.

No need for him to , I DO ALL THE MAPPING.....
And as an aside you still initially breakdown on either of the stock ecu's until you unplug the MAF , quite embarassing on a single track road....
As for doing our homework , lol...
I remember having to correct both of you recently on things you had said about the SimTek ecu that were incorrect , Water Spray for one and in gear boost control for the other so lets drop it shall we...
Alan will be absent from Scoobynet forthwith and I shall be taking over the advertising and all technical queries...
As a foot note I would like to add the following , Andy I have the utmost respect for you and would like to thank you for your continued support over the years we have been involved with Subarus....
Bob to say I wouldn't put you out if you were on fire is probably a bit strong , but you know what I mean....!

Can I make a small suggestion, stop this nit picking between all of you - you're achieving nothing other than making yourselves look petty. ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
We're all here to provide a service and I'd like to think that all the usual suspects that crop up in these mapping threads will all complete the task properly, let's be honest about it the restriction is the engine itself and not the company/individual that is carrying out the job.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Alan was being light hearted about it, and came up with a flippant comment intended to amuse. It all goes to show you can't joke with a Pedant, especially if he has a vested interest.
That's a wink, by the way.
