..that's if he's bothered paying the finance company.

Could have defaulted/stopped paying and is just waiting for them to drag the car away.

I've bought a few ex-finance cars in the past that were "******-backs". Seems some people get a car and have no intention of meeting the finance agreements, or stop paying when they are bored with the car.

To be fair my first post on this thread was deliberately antagonistic, so I don't blame Daz for having a mild go at me ~ LOL!

The most obvious reason why he has no tax and insurance is because he is disqualified, im in the same situation at the moment. Not all homes have drive ways, and im sure he has his reasons for not using next doors one.

Still doesn't excuse not having tax or insurance. The rest of us pay up [don't we!] so why shouldn't he?

And from the rest of the thread, he had a way out so seems pretty foolish whichever way you look at it.

I think it's funny.

It was SORN'd - that means Statutory Off Road Notice. And it was parked on the road.

It may be pedantic, but if he is doing one thing to save money yet then doing the opposite and leaving the car on the road, he has only himself to blame. OK, maybe he does not have a garage - tough **** for buying a car then SORN'ing it and expecting to get away with it.

There is always the option of selling it if he cannot afford it as that is what most people do. Why is there this expectation that someone owes you because of your unfortunate circumstances?

He did wrong and paid the penalty - that's life.

Hahahaha - LOL

Thank you for the compliment - appreciated.

Misfortune is an interesting word. Let's say I go and rob a bank with a gun and get shot by a copper. Is that misfortune? Should I expect everyone to say "ah, the nasty policemen shot him?, hope he is OK."

Do me a favour - misfortune is normally when something happens to you that is unexpected or unfortunate, or you did not plan to happen because you did not do anything wrong.

He did something wrong and got caught - big deal, but who did wrong - he did. In simple terms, had he not parked the car on the road, he would not have been caught.

Although that logic is obviously beyond you. Thus I suspect you are not clever - like me!

What's the point of having a car like this if you cant afford to tax it and insure it????

His neighbour warned him of the perils of doing this and even offered the guy use of his vacant garage.

My Subaru is neither Taxed or MOT'd, it is SORN, it was sat outside my house today off the drive as I was working on another car. Sometimes there is more to a situation than you forst hear.

PS it is however insured

Lots of people here quick to judge. Life is not always that predictable, I know this unfortunately. In my opinion its just the DVLA out to make cash.

I don't see any difference to a car being SORN on a drive, as opposed to be SORN parked on the road outside your house. If its not in use, and the guy is hoping to get a new job, sell the car or whatever so what?

Makes no difference to the chances of him driving it when uninsured, that is a whole different story. If he was using it, then he deserves what he gets.

I find it somewhat ironic that you managed to drag yourself away from your busy schedule & find the time to read this thread [& post on it], even though you found it so incredibly boring..

At least the rest of the people on this thread, [who are sacrificing there precious "out" time] are actually enjoying the experience..

Oh dear this was classed as offensive or abusive post and now I have recieved an infraction.

Sorry but if your friends spent best part 2 months in hospital and another 6 months emptying a bag to pee and that is also not the end of his pain. after some idiot buys a old SCORN banger and crashed into them. 12 months on he as HAD to go back to work to pay bills not because he's well enough

I any of my 3 Children didn't tax and insure their cars, they could share the same fate, I would have no problem bubbling my kids to the Police.

IMHO

I’m sorry but I fail to see that there is any connection between what happened to your unfortunate friend and this particular incident.

At no point has there been any mention of the guy actually driving the car.

Your kids & your friend have my utmost sympathy by the way..

Both cars were SORN (Statutory Off Road Notice) both cars were NOT off the road. I except under different circumstances by the OP post it does seem he was aware of risks.

I am not saying "if" the Car that hit my mate was fully legal the accident wouldn't have happened but being insured and taxed etc the insurance payout would help him as he nearly lost job, house and 3 years of pain.

Yes he will get some compo from uninsured driver but long winded and 10%

Tony

Ps

INFRACTION recieved time **:** date 2nd March i wonder which SN PLUS user was on this thread and posted at a simular time
