When I was looking had the choice of an Evo 8 300 or subaru sti ppp. My wife has a Mitsubishi Airtrek (slightly modded) see here Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo-R | evo Car Reviews | Car Reviews | evo
I was at extreme (Evo specialist) and tried the Evo but after I left and was bartering on price I looked around and thought I'd try the Subaru STi with PPP (not really wanting to get one) but one test drive was all it took.....
The Subaru actually feels like it's going faster and is just more involving. Ive now had it for 2.5 years and with 'a few' mods later. I still smile every time I take it down A and B roads.....

If I get my way though I will spend most of my disposable income on cars.
But I will always have a run-around that takes the beatings and the pride and joy that comes out on weekends.
A bit like a wife and a mistress. Not sure which is which though.

no more complicated than its good fun- the 4 x 4 is handy for me (live rural) and I bought the wrx wagon because I do so much cycling I can fit my bike in the back- don't want an expensive bike on a rack etc where chavy hands can get to it.
had all sorts of "poshish" motors, vw's, saabs, volvos as well as the usual run of the mill crap and the wrx is just good fun really as a toy for a while.
didn't buy merc/volvo etc estates as to be honest they are everywhere and a bit dull- unless yr want to spent mega money on something mental----- the wagon fits the bill for not a lot really.
not going to buy some gayboy 4 x 4 rav/landcruiser/range rover heap though....... I want a car that goes around corners. ditto no warriers/pickup trucks either- no bloody space in them and they are too slow/cumbersome and everyone thinks yr a **** in them.
fed up with crap fuel economy though.
I am an old git though.
