They should set up CCTV cameras and film the idiots. Would make a great show, especially if the posts were rigged with buckets of water to give you a good soaking

Yes, systematic dumbing down of the "unwashed masses" through Govn't policy since the end of WW2.

An analogy; How to boil a frog (The animal).

1. Capture frog.
2. Place in suitable container.
3. Onbtain a suitable metal pot and cooker.
4. Place frog in pot and fill with water.
5. Place pot with frog on cooker and light burner.
6. Watch water boil.
7. Frog (Society) dies because it's unawre of the danger until it's too late.
8. Good bye (To freedom and liberty).

One cooked frog, or one dumbed down society.

Everybody could just stop watching the news and buying into all this sensationalist nonsense that the news agencies spouts all the time.

We hear reports of padded lamposts, pay as you go driving, mobile phone tracking, black boxes in cars etc etc all "reported" to us by the news agencies but I have not seen any of this stuff implemented in the past 10 years.

If we all just got on with our lives and ignored the news we wouldn't really notice a great deal of change I would imagine, except for the price of goods, fuel etc.

Mobile phone tracking is here. There are cameras all over our road network and the 'congestion charge' scheme is now being rolled out all over the UK. Traffic wardens no longer have to put a ticket on your car for it to be valid and they are now private companies making profits not council employees. The burden of proof for Speeding, Dropping litter, parking offences , Council tax fines etc has been changed from innocent until proven to guilty until proven innocent. Private companies can now issue fines to individuals without the need for a court. You can now claim more in benefits than the national average wage and if you are self employed you have to pay tax six months of ahead of what you owe. These are all changes in the last ten years and there are hundreds more.

Apart from mobile tracking (which I have never experienced myself) and the benefits thing, all the rest of the points you make apply to people breaking the law so what is wrong with those systems?

If someone parks where they shouldn't then why is it a problem that a warden (private or council) tickets them? Same with speeding?

I'm not saying I don't speed or break the law (though I NEVER park illegally), but those systems all work against law breakers its just the technology that has improved.

As for benefits, I only know a few people on benefits but they dont live a life of luxury, or is that something you heard on the "news"?

I am self employed and paying tax up front doesn't bother me as we benefit in other ways, although not as many benefits as we should get.

No they're not!
They're in London. There's a handful of pilot schemes being considered, many of which won't go ahead, and a national scheme as pretty much been dropped.

honeslty, chill out

So you think its OK that having to prove an offence has been commited is being removed from the court system and you do not see a problem with this ? A man shouting at tony blair was arrested under terrorism charges and you think this is OK ? Political discent punished under terror laws that mean you can be arrested with out charge or comeback for over 1 month. Do you know that it is now illegal to protest in Westminster so you can't legally protest the government ? Bit by bit basic freedom is being taken away and I cannot believe you do not see what is coming.

I read yesterday that the reason given for padding the lamp posts is that people using their phones for sending text messages keep walking into them! There was also a serious suggestion that there could be pedestrian lanes on the pavements for those sending texts so that they could be safe from the dangerous lamp posts!!!!

Tell me its not true please!

Padded scaffolding is becoming increasingly common in London, I suspect more to protect the company from litigation rather than than the hapless halfwit that walks into it!
