I didn't have to look hard for mine, it is published by parliament.
I have already asked you, and since you have avoided the question, I'll ask you again:
Where else would you suggest getting unemployment figures other than the ONS?
Where else would you suggest getting population figures other than from the Census?

Here we go again! I have made absolutely no claim that "speaking English as a first language is more important than a quality education".
You seem to take your own posts, then try to argue against someone who hasn't disagreed with you!

here is an article I have found
Unemployment rate is six times higher than official figures | the Daily Mail
it quotes.
Ministers yesterday trumpeted the headline unemployment figure for June of 1.65million - a 45,000 fall from three months earlier.
But in the small print, the ONS figures reveal that the real total is 9.6million, because a further 7.95million people in Britain are classed merely as 'economically inactive'.

I think you need to distinguish between parliament, the civil service and the government.
Or are they all lying?
By the by, as much as I agree that the WMD claim was wrong - It was made by the JIC, not the Government. All these discussions are now public record - It was the JIC that said Iraq had WMD.

Bodge, I must have posted about 5 times that there are 8 million people between 16-64 out of work - What are you trying to disagree with?

I think you'll find I posted that, you then argued it for a while and are now claiming it as your own stat!

Seems pretty clear to me - But maybe i'm wrong - If you could just clarify exactly what you were getting at, then?
I didn't say why you were odd, just making my assumptions from the drivel you post here every day!
For the record, I would choose a school with English speaking children that performed well.
Let me put it a simpler way for you, if you had two schools that the government told you were performing the same, but in one your kid would be the only English speaker, which school would you choose?

Ill spell out the options again so you can give me your answer
(i)English as first language Average performing school
Or
(ii)Foreign language as first language but Top of the league tables.
In answer to your question (assuming by only English speaker you mean only person with English as ther first language, i.e. the teachers etc can still speak English) then either or - As long as the quality of education was high, then it wouldn't matter either way In fact it might be an advantge for the foreign language school as your child will by default, pick up another language.- As I said before, what do you think English people sending thier kids to Swiss finishing schools are doing?

So you are saying you would send your child to a school where he was the only English speaker, (as a first language) and not a school where all the children spoke English, if all other things were equal!
Yeah right!

As a rule, I would imagine this would be a very unlikely situation to find yourself in. It's hardly like the country is over run with schools like this (I'm not saying there is none, but it's hardly a widespread concern). As an aside, surely it is a good thing that these foreign speaking kids are in education, and although they will start out not speaking English, they will most likely learn this as they go throughout their education, getting a good grasp of the language thus allowing them to better integrate into our society. Surely this is a good thing, and may well stop problems like the strain on doctors surgeries where translators are required.
As for which school would I choose if there were 2, say performing exactly the same, I would most likely send my hypothetical child to the one which where they wouldn't be the only child speaking English as their first language. It's not because I have a problem with foreigners, it's just I would worry it would be a strain on a young child to be in that environment, where less time may be spent with them, and their development may suffer. A school with a more even split I would have no problem with, and I actually think it would be positive for a child to integrate with those from other backrounds at a young age, and maybe help our future generations be a little more tolerant than our own.

As I'd said, i think that would be really difficult for a young child, and I for one for my reasons mentioned would not be inclined to put a child in that situation, at least not at an early age. I do think we need to be realistic though, this is not an everyday situation and doubt, it ever will be, so it seems like a bit of a pointless arguement.
