I'm going to be going from PPP on an 02 bug to a full deact, Induction kit and remap - any ideas what kind of power i'll be running and difference in performance i'm going to see?

Essentially, it's my hobby, and we're dinky's at the moment. It sounds like a lot of money, I agree, but then I try not to drink or spend money on other things. At the moment I've got a decently paying job as well (though if and when that changes, I'll definitely stop spending any extra money on the car).

Also, when I was paying the car off, I spent more per month on just loan repayments, so actually I'm spending less now

Apart from buying the car on finance, I intend never ever to get into debt over it. That way, if I lose interest for a while, I can just take it off road and not bother with it, or sell it and buy something else etc without it still owing me a penny. I wouldn't want to be in a position where, say, if I sold the car I'd still be in debt, if that makes sense.

I don't really view it as wasted money either... Before I got the subaru, I was rubbish at doing anything practical with cars, but now it's quite nice to be able to do some mechanical work, e.g. changing turbo's, injectors, intercoolers etc and reading scoobynet and 22b.com has genuinely thought me some stuff I find really interesting. Also, as I work in IT, it's nice to do some practical work every so often instead of just typing away at a keyboard all the time.

290bhp maybe? It might drive a bit better, though, with a bit more mid range torque.

My answer is that it's grim oop nartth lad....

Once my car loan was paid off, the monthly £'s can now go on bits...

I don't need to keep up with anyone, my bug-eye is tidy (?) for it's age, and heading for 400 bhp soon....

Just glad I chopped my classic in for it back in 2002 !

DunxC

P.S. **** job, crap pay, love (all) Scoobs.

save save save! ive done just over 3k so far this year modding mine, prob done nearly 20k since had it, dont drink, dont go out much and i'm only a valeter! having to move back in with parents helps ( fookin cheating ex took me for everything) but it comes down to priorities, with the average price of a 1 bed flat nearly 200k round here theres no chance of moving out again so it goes on the scoob, which keeps me very happy, theres no wrong or right way bout doing things, life would be boring if everyone was the same! not only that if we all had 500bhp rockets, who would you look up to?

I'm sorry but if you're baulking at people spending £3/400 a month then you clearly aren't in the top 10% earners in the country. Someone in the top 10% would EASILY be able to afford £3/400 a month on their car.

Anyway, as some people have said, it's a question of priorities. Many people don't spend that much as they've mortgage/rent/bills/kids to pay for etc. Then again, there's a few mommies boys on here living at home without these costs

I can honestly say that I am in the top 10% but at the moment I still cant afford/justify the £3-400 a month. As i've said before I MUST prioritise my money better.Things like my hot tub, sauna, second car, bike and 6 holidays a year will now have to give way to my scoob.I may even have to move to a smaller pad .
I never really thought about tuning before I came on to SN but seeing the like minded people on here talking about there scoobs gave me back the buzz I used to have as teenager tuning my Ford escort !

To be fair, 3-400 quid a month is still a lot of money, even for someone well into the highest 10% earners, IMO.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but moving to a smaller house just to tune the scoob - you must be joking Foregoing a hot tub, sauna etc will not give you more money to spend on the scoob surely, as it's just a one off payment anyway and if you have them already then how does it affect the subaru?

If and when I buy a house, I'll stop, but as house prices are absolutely ridiculous at the moment, I'm happy renting and spending some money on the hobbies

At least to me, it's not so much about driving, but improving and building something. I get more of a buzz from spending an afternoon on the drive way than from going out driving for a couple of hours. I concur that I'm a bit weird, though

Cool

Just checking as I believe there quite a few using traders policies to get cheap insurance. I was quite suprised when they asked me for 3 years books before they would entertain my claim when I had to make one.

No offence to be taken from me asking mate.
