glad she has been found and i hope she is OK

re protection order, most likely to be becasue the stepfather is related to the scumbag who had her so they will want the stepfather seperated from Shannon.

I hope the parents had nothning to do with this as it is hard to imagine how anybody could do so.
If they are involved then 20 years inside would seem about fair.

I quite like the genetic father, seems genuine, maybe not the smartest bloke in the world but a good guy.

Re the celebrations, watching sky this morning, the fireworks, throwing the leaflets around and dancing on them and partying the night away fuelled with whitelightening ( ihave the feeling most friday nights might look something like that, not exactly like the street parties of old) - i suppose thats how some celebrate. I do wonder if they will be clearing up the mess first thing today.

Re the chap who had her, news sems to be leaking out, he changed his name some time back and was known to the police - i wonder what for, i am sure we will find out.
Shannon hidden in a dwawer in a divan type bed and the chap found in the other drawer of the bed after neighbours reported hearing a childs footsteps in the flat above - thank god for that.

I am sure the facts will come out in the fullness of time and i am sure there will be loads of speculation - especially on SN

Hmmm explaining and justifying.
Firstly there is no justifying the horrors that some children have inflicted upon them.
With regards to being a peadophile - whilst I agree that you don't just wake up on your 30th birthday and think "oh I want to abuse kids" - its something thats with you from a very young age - just as being gay/lesbian/bisexual.

If, however, it were a "gene" ffs - lets locate the gene, scan kids when their born and remove it! They can detect down syndrome and other chromological diseases - peadophillia is just a good a reason to terminate a pregnancy!!

And yes, whilst there are men (mainly) out there who have these disgusting thoughts and desires, they have to find a "release" for them somewhere don't they!

My original point though was that, because you are on a sec register - there are two VERY different ends - on one end, the man whose sexually abused his kids - on the other, the 18 year old boy who gets trashed at a club, screws a girl, to later find out she was only 14. VERY different.

If you read through all the papers it would seem there are a fair few children belonging to one or other of her mother/mothers boyfriend/ immediate family who are in care or are living with their other parent .... strange

Have to say though,criticism of the police seems uncredibly unfair.Seems they are damned if they find someone and damned when they don't.

Not suprised, her stepfather is related to the chap who was hiding her and God knows what the true story is anyway.

that seems very likely, they need to tread very carefully and find out exactly what happened, they can't do that once she's been influenced by family and the media.

What's interesting is the bit at the end where it states that of her six children four of them are living with their two different fathers and the two she had with the abductor are in care having already been taken from her.

It's seems a strange world that some of these people live in, thank God I wasn't born into it!

It has been indicated that the stepfather was ill treating her and the other girls too and maybe she just did not want to live at her home any more. Strange that she should be in care otherwise too.

i think it will all come out, she was unhappy at home and this was a way out, the blokes probably a bit simple and went along with it not realising the anguish or trouble the getaway would cause him

There was also the case of the paediatrician who had trouble - some local thickos thought that was the same as a paedophile!

Both words are sometimes spelt without the first "a".

i wonder if paedophiles have business cards, advertising, promotional material saying 'paedophile' - It is hardly something they advertise, look in yellow pages perhaps. shocking but not suprising with the standard of education.

I wonder how the thicko's found this person.

It is a tough one, paedo's are sometimes placed back into the community somettime near where they offended - the poice notifdy the parents of the children who where offended but not the other parents to advise them that this person is living within their community.
Even if a paedo is placed back into a unknown community, is it right parents should not be aware of the potential danger to thier children.

Human rights of the paedophile again, yes.
Will it drive them underground, maybe, in which case maybe they should not be let out in the first place or tagged, mabe an implanted device so they can be tracked at all times.

not an easy one but surely the right of the children should be first and foremost!
