They are not. Ferrari have only raised this after their engines blew up in the race. Typical Ferrari "sportsmanship"

To be honest, I think FIA just picked the ecu supplier out of a hat, or took the cheapest bidders offer!
Thankfully what you think and the reality of the situation are diametrically opposed

Mclaren would have had an advantage at the start of testing, fact. The idea being that all the other teams would have enough time to catch up. The time spent getting upto speed on a brand new ecu has obviously cost crucial development time in other areas.
It was the same for everyone. As said above, Ferrari in testing were the team to beat. And no one else has complained.

If you honestly think that dropping a new ecu in an F1 car is the same as a road car, you are seriouisly deluded.
Of course its not. Joe blogs doesn't have $10m to spend on analysing the ECU and mapping their engine round about it.

the architecture of the ecu may be the same, but the map wont be. so its not an advantage at all

Just to put the record straight Ferrari, Renault and Red Bull have all complained about the ECU being manufactured by a McLaren company well before last weekend's Aus GP. Just thought a few facts might be a good idea at this point

I haven't even seen the ECU, but I've heard from a Ferrari insider that the code looks like this

BBC Basic Coding for ECU

10 Make silver cars not do anything stupid
20 Make red cars pull stupid stunts and drive on the grass and gravel
30 goto 10

ah ha! Gotcha

I hardly think the FIA would allow McLaren an edge through being linked to the ECU manufacturer. Just sour grapes.

The teams always moan about various things that they are unhappy with with regards another teams supposed gain/cheat/novelty go faster goodie.
