My brother has a black FTO. I don't know much about them myself but i know this much -

My bother's is automatic.

They don't look like Aston Martins from any angle.

My 2001 WRX was faster when standard and my brother will admit that.

Its currently in a garage as it has electrical problems.

must say I like the look of GTO's but the FTO just looks like a girly version of it.
a guy up where I am was trying to sell his, some sort of tuned one, a V6 with a turbo fitted, top end was said to be 165+ lots of mods with about 260 bhp IIRC,was a 1993/4 and was wanting about 7k for it. last I knew he never managed to sell it.

What's with the FTO bashing?

If you ever drive one you would change your opinion. Sweet sounding V6 and one of the best handling front wheel drive cars ever built. Was awarded Jap car of the year in mid 90's..........cant be that bad?

To answer the question. They have a top speed of 155 in a delimited manual version.

I'm not trying to bash it personally, I think they are ok, just not my cup o char.

I think my comments are fair and true

Too much bashing goes on as it is.

A mate of mine had an FTO a while back and tried modding it to f**k. It didn't get him very far as it started to pull itself apart off the mark. Think his was only pushing at most 230-240bhp. His was doing that and it was stripped out with nothing but the 2 seats which were light as anything bucket seats.

Ended up getting rid of it and from what I hear the person who he sold it to ended up selling all the mods off it and restoring it back to it's factory specifications. Now he has bought another FTO but has decided to keep it standard. I told him to get an Impreza as they're built to last and wont pull thereselves apart off the line when running 230 - 240bhp.

As for the Impreza looking ugly at almost every angle where the hell were you looking? Up the exhaust pipe or something? Compare the Version 4,5 & 6 to most modern cars and they look miles better. IMO I think that Impreza's look better than what Aston's, Ferrari's and Porche's do.

But for someone to say they have an FTO pushing 340bhp they must be smoking something that they shouldn't cos that's just utter b*****ks.

Again, there are several turbo fto's out that that are pushing this sort of power.

They have been very reliable and has deffo clocked a 12.41 at Elvington, maybe even quicker.

like most cars get a good one that has been looked after and it will treat you right. get a bad one and you are screwed. Mine was as reliable as anything and i did 40,000 miles in two years in it.

Some people will tell you not to get a subaru because "they have pistons made of chocolate" those people are usually uninformed.

Well I'm an Impreza fan but I really can't agree with that last sentence.

Lot of opinions here from people who've never driven an FTO I think.

No, I haven't got to 'admit' that. No more 'ghey' than an MR2, CRX, Celica, 200SX or any one of a load of other coupes. Why do people post such bollocks?

MR2 - Gay
CRX - To old for gay people to drive, so not gay.
Celica - old ones not gay, new ones gay (even if its fensports )
200SX - S13 gay, S14 probably bisexual, S14a not gay.

Before anyone says anything - I'll well aware my Impreza is the "ugliest" - so there isn't a chance Alan Carr would want to drive it. So

(Tongue firmly in cheek.. but if people want to get so upright about a bit of banter )

Ohhhh... and GTO - too fat to be gay.
