Before this descends into an all out brawl can I just explain that I have no problem with your figures
Rolling roads that use run down losses to calculate transmission losses come in many forms....Some show quite low transmission losses (The Hoffman one above and Dastek dynos) and others show quite high losses like the Mahaa dyno...
They CAN'T both be correct so I usually ignore the wheel figures from either and only concentrate on the flywheel figure...

When I say transmission losses BTW I don't mean just the box , this takes into account the box , diffs , shafts , tyres etc etc , basically anything between the engine and the rollers....

Engine Tuner:

I think you should be a bit more careful before you start using words like "useless" when referring to your competitors equipment! Especially when using a highly controversial and questionable machine yourself.

I am happy to leave it at that.

I never used the word to refer to your equipment , just the WHEEL FIGURES and I put that in capital letters as you seem to be missing the point...
As for my equipment , questionable and highly controversial , lol...
Only because it generally upsets people who have less power than they thought they did ...
While the cars I tune continue to make more power and torque on competitors dynos (Not BTW that we consider ourselves to be in competition with you) I will be happy to continue to use my excellent tuning tool...

It doesn't matter which dyno you use!
Powerstation have an excellent dyno set up.
Theoretically, any dyno should be capable of repeating results, assuming all the inputs are either the same, or scaled the same. It's perfectly possible that your car gave different figures on different days, depending on a host of factors. Bear in mind that an Impreza is just as likely or not to be as faulty as a dyno is! There are various different methods of obtaining results from a dyno, the important thing is how the operator responds to the data when he's using it for tuning, which in my mind is the primary function.
Dyno days are just jolly good fun, and the Powerstation Girls made it more fun than usual, by the look of it!
Any chance of 'phone numbers Richi?

not a dig at dyno dynamics, never been on any other rollers. bit more to it than i originally posted as mapper got same figures as one of them

Again, depends on dyno type.

MAHA is 5th for 6sp Scoob & 4th for 5sp Scoob
DD is 4th for 6sp Scoob & 3rd for 5sp Scoob

Not sure about others.

Mine has to be double strapped down now on the MAHA to prevent wheelspin with all the torque!

No problem..... when you have a car that has done many miles on a RR for development, you tend to pick these bits of information up!

Talking of which, the last time the car was mapped on the previous standard ECU we all laughed when the ECUTEK programming counter said it was approaching 300 re-program writes (all done by PowerStation)! Perhaps that is a world record for ECUTEK remaps on a single ECU! I would hate to calculate out all that dyno time cost!

thanks for the reply webby
i thought so
so does anyone know how the results are affected by running
on a dd roller in the wrong gear?
mine was recently done in third

In all depends on the ratios..... I understand that if you ran a 5sp Scoob in 4th and then in 3rd, the 3rd gear power run would be higher than the run in 4th. I have no idea how the DD RR works with this logic. They should be run in the closest to the 1 to 1 ratio, to get the most accurate results based on gear ratio. This is what they do at PowerStation.

In actual fact, we tend to run Imprezas in fourth gear, along with just about every other car we do. This is our choice, based on our own experiences. We tend to run Evos in 3rd, as that's how the MLR members like it, and who are we to argue with the man paying the bill? We once got into a right argument with an Evo owner concerning 3rd or 4th, and funnily enough, we proved that the DD dyno will give the same flywheel bhp figures no matter which gear you used, and we mean to within 1 bhp. The difference was in tractive effort, which would be a higher figure with the lower gearing. We've been saying for ages now that we would rather just get on with the tuning process rather than have endless discussions about how you tested it, but we also have to deal with the situation as we find it.

Question

How long have PS been using ft-lb instead of NM..?

I would have loved to have gone down. Been to a few before and they're always a good day. Just too many (young) family commitments at the moment..!

Only recently, Rich said they had not long aquired the new software.

As for anyone questioning Powerstations rollers accuracy, i had a power run in October and had 303bhp and had another run done at the open day and had....303bhp. The trick is to stick to the same rollers when you mod a car then you have a real basis for comparison.
Heres my graph from saturday:

Looking at yours Chris and Gem, my torque and power is down a bit. Given that the engine and electrics are new i think my turbo must be getting a little tired.
