the most obvious thing is the control you have over the car ... in the wr1 you could only control the diff, so it was in permanent attack mode all of the time. in the 08 you can disable the traction control (something tiff, funnily enough, neglected to mention) and change the throttle and turbo response to suit the driving conditions you are in. Secondly the torque is noticeably more in the 08, which makes having a proper smash up and down the gears much more exciting.
In addition i've found that the 08 feels much lighter and balanced than the wr1. i feel like i'm driving something much smaller and potent.
on the looks side i miss the huge rear spoilerage of the wr1, however the 08 looks sleek and menacing in the guise that i have it. it lacks the noise but that's easily sorted.

My car has all the Mods the WR1 had except for the colour so I guess I have driven a WR1 for a considerable time . Of course you had a few additional mods
I had the new Sti for the morning and as I already qualified its new and a demonstrator.
I wasn't as impressed with the new one Thats all I am saying
But once again I am sure Prodrive will improve it then I will certainly consider ordering one IN WHITE with BLACK WHEELS

lol that is ridiculous ... "my car has all the mods of a wr1 so it's like having one"
it's not a wr1 mate so you didn't own one at all!! you can't make a comparison argument regarding two cars you've never owned. you had a morning with a new sti yeh ... i've had one for nearly a month and done nearly 2000 miles. I owned a wr1 for two years and did 35000 miles! it's laughable hearing people make comparisons based on 2 hours with a car vrs a car they've never owned.

The front looks fab, the rear is a little disappointing......... I can't comment on the drive as I have not had that experience yet, but as long as it puts a smile on your face, thats all that counts!!!!!!!

Only coz when I spoke to you, I think when they were beginning to launch them, I thought you said you wasn't 100% sure on them?
I mean, I was a definite "hater" of them to start but then after seeing one in the flesh, I can see why they are loved by some...... I was never sure when they changed from classic to newage, although you could still see "Subaru" in the design, they got it back with the Hawk Eye, and now it seems they have lost it again with the Hatchback version.
Don't get me wrong, your car is awesome looking, but its hard to believe its a Scooby. Call me old school I guess?
Maybe my opinion will change if I drove one..................hint hint!!!!!!

Yeah not bad - you? How was your track day?
Back to topic - Not that MY opinion should be anything to go on - but its like most things - you either like 'em - or you don't. Some things grow on you - and I think that the new scoob will be one of those things!
