I've just had a look at what the acceptable drinking units for men is and tbh i find it stupid, it's 4 units, what a joke, thats 2 bottles of stella, and if you constantly drink more than 4 units a day then your at risk of health problems. Whats the drink driving limit ?

I probably drink on average 3/4 of a bottle of wine a day but thats spread through out the day and is a part of my job. I get sent lots of different wines to try and its only once in a while that a session really gets started usually when a wine maker comes to visit for lunch and brings cases of his finest to try and sell me.

How many did you have when watching the Match ?
I have been drinking quite a bit recently, by my standards so going to lay off for a bit, well until the weekend, ok alcohol isnt the be all and end all but it does take the edge off being taxed to death.

I drink about 10-20 units a week, mainly red wine and I think that's excessive. It makes me fat (well gives me a belly), from the alcohol itself and the knock on effect for craving carbs the next day.
I regulary drink nothing mon to thurs. And regularly drink nothing for a month. Always feel a lot better/lighter in that month. I also find drinking makes me feel depressed, so I drink more and know that's not the thing todo.
When I was trainign for duathlong up until end of last year, even 2 glasses of red the night before would reduce my ability to run/cycle at high intensity seriously.

Government guidelines on drinking are ridiculously low IMO. I think you can add 75% to them per week and still be "healthy".
A writer for the Sunday Times said he averaged 45 units per week for 15 years. He had tests done and nothing was there to worry about. He stopped for a while and within 5 weeks all his stats were perfectly normal.

I went through a phase when I was about 22 where I was drinking a fair amount over the course of a week, and had the odd morning where there was no way I could drive to work so got a lift in and battled through some morning drunkness/hangover.
Now, 28, I rarely drink that much at all, perhaps a couple of glasses of wine with dinner on a Sunday and a few drinks during the week. But really I could probably go without touching the stuff again if I had to.

Wreck the hoose juice. Tastes like crap as well.
I drink far too much - wine, vodka, rum, whisky. Must cut down
But as a colleague at work once said "I can't become an alcoholic. I like drink too much and would hate to have to give it up".
Anyway, Sir Alan is on soon. Must charge the glasses
