A non-believer is converted - Strut Brace
#32
But think of the increase in active safety
I had my Prodrive suspended car fitted with the STi competition strut braces front and rear, (the pink/aluminium ones)front one is adjustable and I think they made a tremendous improvement, particularly the rear brace on the wagon as it doesn't have a solid rear bulkhead like some of the saloons/coupes!
I would imagine that the make/price of the brace is relevant as those who seem to think they are invariably a waste of time have usually bought a skimpy cheap brace -no offence intended. Personally, I think the strut braces have been one of the best mods I've done to my car and probably amongst the first mods I would do if I had a new one. Saying that, my car is a wagon so it undoubtedly benefits more at the rear than the saloons/coupes.

Strut braces are all good and well, but in the event of a minor collision they can write off your car!!
In the event of a side impact all the force is transferred to the opposite strut which can destroy the opposite inner wing etc causing double trouble!!
Imagine a minor front corner nudge, half off the forces are transmitted along the brace creasing the opposite inner wing.
