Dave,

As you fully admit to not being able to drive your Scoob to the limit, you wouldn't appreciate the finer things in life like a Bike as you wouldn't be able to ride it hard enough to make having one worthwhile....

(you asked for that m8 )

Matt.

Built a car 'in me shed mate' that could, and did, blow away an R1 and a Hayabusa on standing start acceleration and circuits.
OK wasn't quite a shed. Self built car though.
UVA Fugitive 5.7 Chevy V8. Porsche box, mid engined, wishbones, coilovers and big Brembos all round so it cornered and stopped too ! 650 kg 550 bhp (before the NOS !) And it was road legal....just !
It can be done, just requires a 'no compromise' approach.

Cool

If you start talking about modified cars then you should compare it to a modified bike and I am sorry but you'd have no chance.

This thred appeared to start off about straight line speed, or standing 1/4.

Well standing 1/4, I have a stock GSXR750Y and I've managed a 10.43 with a terminal of 136mph. Be interested to see anything faster than that, especially on a bike of that size.

Like somebody else has said in this post, you get a feeling for those ppl who actually have a bike, and those that don't. Dry road, normal conditions, you may as well forget it in the car due to traffic. If I were to try and keep up with myself on the bike (riding the bike *normally* and not trying to prove a point), I'd wrap the car up trying, probably taking members of the public with me. The main reason for that is overtaking oppotunities the bikes gives you. To try the same in the car would, at best cause ppl swerve to avoid you, and at worst a big RTA.

However the biggest difference that I find is that you can jump behind the wheel of most cars and get within 80-90% of its ability really quickly. Jump onboard any *fast* bike these days, and the sheer speed of things takes some getting used to before you even start to explore the cornering ability.

The other thing I personally find is I have to be in the right frame of mind to get the best out of my bike. If Im not quite with it, not had enough sleep, got out of bed on the wrong side, it just doesn't work. You have to give 100% to get the best out of them, anything less, and the things just don't perform.

I'd love to take both to a racetrack and compare times, but I know for a fact which is faster.... a lot faster.

Agree with you totally Mike...

Looking forward to getting my bike back on the road... it is lovely to relearn a few things after not riding it for 2months..
Currently waiting for slightly better weather and enough dosh for a rear tyre and a service, timing chain needs changing... doh..

Got to agree, a 400 cc bike would cream a std scooby. A 600+ bike would cream a modded scooby. Or 6k worth of bike would cream 6k worth of scooby etc etc.................but when you take this argument all the way to ultimate modded car Vs ultimate modded bike then the Car will always win.

Land speed record - Car
Drag racing - Car
Circuit racing - Car

Driving sideways for 2 hours ! - Car

ps Jolly, It was a modded Busa that my 'road legal kit car' beat on the 1/4 mile 9.43 secs 145 mph.
