House a suitably venomous snake in a containment cage somewhere in the car.
Install a device which releases the snake -unless isloated prior to start up - With any luck the would be thief will at worst leave the car at best get bitten and die.

Well i supose they are the money giants of the world so they might have some clout when it comes to automotive policies (small fry compared to the insurance co's)

What about small independat co's that develope their own security then. Aftersales installations, why arent they for sale?

Well call me cynical...........

but i reckon that the motor industry has a say in even the independant companies. think about it, other wise cars would be unstealable!!! (bank vaults aint that easy to get into!!) security is possible but it aint financially viable!"!!!

Regarding secondary remotes etc Clifford alarms anti hijack feature Blackjack(which autolocks doors and shuts car down and activates alarm unless a code is entered within 45secs or so every time you start up or open a door )apparently invalidates your cat1 status if enabled. You would think insurance companies would promote this feature because even if your keys are taken the *******s wont get very far, abandoning your car and disappearing back into the cesspit they came from enabling quick recovery of your car.Maybe insurance companies are in this conspiracy with the manufacturers!(this withdrawal of cat1 status and invalidation of insurance apparently applies to any device that shuts down a car while in motion not just Blackjack)

Part of the problem with vehicle crime is that cars are now very hard to break in to and steal. Far easier to break in to the house and steal the keys.

Some say sleep with the keys under your pillow. Do you really want to be woken with a shotgun in your ear?

Employ reasonable security devices. If that's not enough, let them take it and hope BlackJax and Tracker (and police) will do their stuff.

Richard.

WOW didn't realise the conspirecy went that far, maybe it is deemed more of a public risk if a car stops speeding away when stolen!

Maybe the best thing to do is take the battery out every night.

Ray,

You asked what a deadlock is. lock which is welded onto the chassis of the car with a U bolt which is then clamped around the gear stick and only the key can undo it - it's almost impossible to remove unless you've got a few days and the right tools - must be effective, the person who had the car before me this is the only security device they had, and it has not been reported as stolen at any time. It is expensive though - I had to buy a new bolt & keys and it cost £250, so I hate to think how much the actual fitting of the other bit might cost. I would def. have it again if I had another car.
