The Ministry of Justice, HMRC, Ministry of Defense, etc.

You can be under stress for doing nothing much too (except attending meetings and endless debates and I'm not talking about the house of clowns or rather commons). Do you believe the government actually come up with good ideas?...

Which average politicians regularly do not get more than 4-5 hours please name them, which average politicians does not have a private life name them. Whats their working week (actual work), holiday entitlement, pay including expenses and benefits.

Hint go look it up and you will be shocked at actually how well off, well sleeped, etc they are.

Yes I know Maggie didn't sleep well and oh yes what a lot of grey hairs Tony 'bend over for bush' Blair has got. The cabinet will get more pressure but read up on what I just said. Hence why I quote the amount of taxes we all pay but not always realise.....

It is amazing how corrupting politics can become you go in for good intentions then other things 'fame, money, influence take over' <-- We are all human doesn't mean we should accept it (or rather all the forms of taxing) though.
Im not going get into a big debate about this ..... then you go on with stuff that I don't think is correct .... but I'm NOT going to get into a big debate about this. I have had family members and friends in politics and I know what a stress it is and how little sleep they get you don't agree with me ... I'll live with that.

There are threads about politics this isn't one. This thread is about fuel tax not fkin immigrants or the state of the NHS. If you want to discuss general stuff start a new thread. If we are going to protest (and possibly get media coverage) ranting about the state of the nation is not going to win you much support from the general public other than from people jumping on the we hate the government bandwagon .... a bandwagon they are already on therfore no net increase in support!

Saying that I'm not disagreeing with most of the points made on this thread this just isn't the place for it imho as the fuel & tax issue is the topic that we are trying to get focus on!

Who mentioned immigration? Its all about tax as far as Im concerned .... but yes lets end it there as I do have security clearance for government so know first hand myself what goes on. I also have a cousin who is a politician and know others in the Wolverhampton area but won't mention names..

Just something for people to think about regarding Tax and cars (or now tickets). A new system being worked on in the courts is getting a major overhaul for the 'anticipated' revenue woops cases that will be generated over the next few years is the ticketing enforcement system.

It is a fact that these get more resource thrown at it than those systems that are dealing with immigration, divorce cases, small claims, etc. 'Because' it generates more income rather than being more complex, etc.

Point taken. I am kind of still on topic as my words on the other thread were basically saying you can huff and puff and go on as many demonstrations as you like, but it won't make any difference. I would dearly love someone to prove me wrong. Sorry.

Blue Blaster, whether we achieve aything remains to be seen, a lot of people have reservations as i have, will anything come of it? you know maybe not. I mean over a million people protested against the iraq war and nothing happened. but i see it this way, the more publicity the better, if one MP, coucillor sits up and takes notice then it will be worthwhile.

I understand what your saying (i have read your other posts) but the truth is the reason the economy is in such a mess is due to the failings of this goverment. The motorist is and always has been seen as an easy target. If left to continue performance motoring will be finished within 5 years and we will be a nation of shopping car owners.

I have never been so fired up politically in all my life and i am fed up to the back teeth of getting f**ked over by this goverment.

We sit and whinge and moan about it yet most just swallow it, well f**k it if i'm on my own on the 19th (and i dont think i will) then so be it. if nothing comes of it then so be it, but i'll be there just to show my disgust at what has happened to this country under this vile corrupt goverment.

Lets for once get it on!!!

^^^^ You see, its as plain as that. Like i said before, Blueblaster has made up his mind that thats the way things have to be and he's willing to accept it. As you can clearly see, you're in the minority sunshine.

have you not seen gladiator ... keep the people happy etc etc

I totally agree with the Chief!

The Berlin wall did'nt fall down on its own did it?
No! People had enough and did something about it. I seriously think our protest will not change anything overnight, but alot of people will see us and agree (possibily join in). Its people like the chief who need medals for standing up and motivating others.

Maybe I haven't been clear. I totally agree with the way you feel. This Government should go down as one of the worst in history, if not THE worst. The current situation is shocking - you should see my tax bill! I do all the right things - I save, I have a pension, I pay my taxes, contribute to the community, I'm reliable, responsible, obey the law and yet all I get from this Government is ****. And every year they want more of my money to pay for more ****.

I think one thing I haven't given enough credit is the feel good factor involved with you all getting together and collectively sticking two fingers up at the Government. It will create more bad press for Robber Brown at a time when he really could do without it and, who knows, you may well prevent October's 2p increase in fuel duty being applied.

However, 2p is going to make no real difference to anyone's bank account. When you've driven into London and vented your spleens you are going to have to come home and face facts. High fuel prices are here to stay. So too are high food costs and higher interest mortgages. You are going to have to adjust to these during a time of low growth and rising inflation. This will not be easy, not least because we have all got so used to spending freely over the last ten years. What will make it easier is if you take action sooner rather than later and that is why you only have yourselves to rely on. The Government is broke and cannot help. It is down to you. The numbers don't lie so take a good long look and make the changes.

I've just stuck fuel in at my local Shell, i paid 113.9 per litre for 95 ron unleaded, Diesel was 1.27 and they didn't have any.

This country is heading for big (bigger) trouble unless something is done and done fast. People just wont be able to afford cars soon.

Thing is it effects everyone - even if you dont drive. Taxi's, public transport costs and then there is the trade, couriers, builders, etc. Food will go up even more (as it needs to be transported) the whole economy is in danger of collapsing.

FFS - I might f*** off abroad, i know the grass is normally not as green as you would expect but its looking a damn site greener at the moment.

114p i nearly collapsed!!!!

Do you want a job?

Very well said. Protesting about high fuel prices is about as futile as it gets, but you can't knock human spirit for thinking that it might have some impact. Once the speculators have had their day, then the price will start stabilising, perhaps even falling a little, but all these price adjustments are long overdue, you just can't keep living the lifestyle of the past 10 years without having to pay for it at some stage, that's what capitalism is all about.

Changing direction slightly, whats happened to the list? on page 13 half way down there are 214 people then on the bottom of page 13 there are less people and my name has vanished

Now whatever the discussion above amounts to I for one will still be going just to make myself feel better and with the small and distant hope it might just have some effect. Maybe im but hey ho there was never any debate about that really!
TBH i really dont care if some people dont want to join in or think/know its down to living the high life for years and now its time to pay the price. I dont think its acceptable so Im doing what I want for a change.

Why bother? We have a captive audience right here

Would you do me a favour though please? Do a new thread upon your return listing your achievements? I think that would shut up all the doubters once and for all

Telboy you are like anyone else entitled to your own opinion, it is a public forum after all but to answer a couple of points.

I did think long and hard about this, i asked myself the very questions that people are putting to me now and i have been asked time and time again is what you doing futile? My reply is 'Maybe' 'maybe not'

I'm just an ordinairy bloke who is just absolutely p***ed off with where this country is heading, yes i understand that a lot of it is beyond our control (to a degree) but we pay over 81p in tax on a litre of fuel, the final straw was the reviseed road tax policy, this made me explode. Thing is the road tax wont matter two hoots to me as my car is pre 2001 but i was that incensed to how this goverment is using the motorist as an easy screw and revenue collector disguised as Labours green policy i decided to do something.

Whether you earn 10k or 100k is it right you as a motorist gets shafted at every turn?

Some people in high paid jobs wont notice at the moment but a lot of the remaining public are noticing a big diffference. It seems everyday thats all people are talking about at work in pubs etc.

But like you said will it make a difference???

maybe not but like i have said before if one councillor, MP sits up and takes notice then its worthwhile. Its a day out of your life just to stand up and say 'Enough is enough, stop ripping us off'

As an ordinairy joe - i really have had enough of this goverments excuses and blatant lies

with nearly 75000 posts (so clearly far too much time spent on here) maybe you've lost touch with reality but thats a topic for another day on a different thread but clearly posting on a thread for supporters of a protest just to spout off some negative comments means you can't have much better to do with your time maybe me feeding the troll has made it worse who knows...

As far as my achievements go .... I don't even know what that is implying or what it has to do with protesting over fuel and taxation extortion and frankly who cares.

edit:
To add yes I'm angry about this post and the other one and I'm sure that comes across in my tone and yes you are entitled to your opinion however much I disagree with it, however this is not the place to voice it considering the considerably work Chief + others have already put in - to have on the very thread promoting it your comments is at best innappropriate!

Thing is Mr Chief, the petrol car's days are numbered, mark my words. This is just the beginning. It'll be a long haul, but eventually petrol cars will be the exception, not the rule. The recent rises in petrol prices will just accelerate the process.

The thing that will have to change, whether it's by a come quietly approach or a kicking and screaming battle, is our attitude that we are owed the right to cheap fossil fuel, cheap air travel, cheap energy. And of course in a car forum that's a hard sell, and the reason why so many people here seem to think they'll make a difference by protesting. They won't. Cheap petrol isn't coming back anytime soon.

Mr Pants, i'm merely pointing out the reality of the situation. You won't change a damned thing by protesting. The tide is against you. Protest for a faster introduction of bio fuels and you'll probably have a red carpet reception. Didn't understand your second paragraph, sorry. Oh and the post count jab was old news about two years ago, just so's ya know.

Read your own post to understand my second paragraph then toddle off.

And I wasn't on here two year ago too busy getting married getting laid and enjoying myself.
