my laptop stolen from my car outside ScoobyMania

Dont forget the latest version of 10.5.2 incorporates a missed schedule scheme. It should wait for you to plug the laptop back in and then start the TM backup automatically.
Like the idea of Andy's to have them on a USB stick. 4GB stick in your pocket with a backup of all the maps etc seems a pretty wise idea.

Really sorry to hear this Dynamix , hope you get it all sorted in time...
I regularly back up to a 30gb hard drive caddy , nearly lost it all middle of last year when the toughbook died , fortunately it was just the screen that went so with spare monitor in place we were able to retrieve all the data...
That immediately prompted the regular back ups as I did nothing till that point...

woohoo - macs works fine and dandy. (admittedly using windows on it through parallels)
Current Map downloaded and I am back in business
DataLogging works too, although without wideband at the moment due to the lack of a serial port on the mac, but that will be sorted shortly.

Personally i think this is good in a way that this has happened to you like it has without your car being stolen, as they say life is a learning curve and in this day and age you have got off very lightly.
You will never make the same mistake again and at least its just a cheap, virtually worthless laptop thats been taken by the scum. Your security will be tight now for the rest of your tuning life including backing things up like setting changes on a daily basis.
As the saying goes, "you can turn a bad situation to your advantage" by backing things up more often along with locking your car if a laptop is on view or ideally taking the laptop out.

Still missing a laptop that was crucial to me getting the car mapped in time for this weekends Time Attack event that i have invested huge amounts of money and time into being prepared for.
Still fried an ecu due to using different kit to normal
Still had to make numerous phone calls for a new ecu and have lots of others do the same for me
Still had to make a 120 mile round trip to pick up an ecu
Still have had to fork out lots of money for things that i would not have had to do if some thieving scum could have kept his grubby little fingers to himself.
I am struggling hard to find the silver lining at the moment.
