5000 to 6000rpm (i presume you mean??) on full boost, surly its the 112mph limiter coming in isn't it

though the garage was a scooby specialist

Does it happen through all the gears or just say 3rd 4th and 5th?

If it happens in all (1st and 2nd as well as the as above) then it shouldnt be happening on full boost as you usually dont reach full boost in those 2 gears. If it happens only in the higher gears, then check the boost pressure on your gauge to see if it is overboosting. Would check all boost pipework/solenoid etc to make sure everything is connected and without splits etc

Pound to a penny it's the limiter He says it 'coasts for a while before it comes back' Intil it drops below the limiter i think. We wait with baited breath, ewwwwww smelly

no it didnt go to the orignal garage i mentioned in the thread as i wasnt sure how much they might charge me and they look pretty expensive. i took it to my bosses uncle first as he runs a saab racing team and he also owns a scoobie hes currently doing up. im taking to it the other place if he cant fix it for me in the next week.

i very much doubt its just 5th gear only and hes hitting the limiter as he said he was testing it on a public road and i doubt he wants to loose his licence doing 112mph. anyway i have hit my limited loads of times and it never causres the whole car to cut out. it just kicks you back like about 2rpm and the boost kicks in again pretty quick.

basically he said "if i put my foot down on full boost it cuts out about 5-6rpm and the whole car goes dead, lights engine stereo the lot. he caosted with the clutch down, noticed the dash had power again so he then lifted the clutch and jump started the engine. said he then tried to drive it slower accelerating to see at what revs but it doesnt do it. so he nailed it again and it cut out again".

i have already cleaned out the boost solenoid when i did the throttle body and idle control valve.

he also said its not over boosting apparenty. ill give him another ring tomoz and if he still hasnt fixed it i might go down there saturday morning and have a look for myself so i know exactly whats happening.

probably be able to explain it better and i can test it in every gear and boost levels myself. never know i might even fix it myself lol

If you are losing all power, it's prob just a bad connection, and nothing actually to do with the particular rpm, more the vibration causing something to "make and break".
Check battery connections, pos and neg, earth on engine and chassis, all multiplug connections.

yeah thats what i was thinking. he said he hasnt driven it that much but im pretty sure its when hes fitted the boost gauge he has either A. disturbed something under te dash feeding the hose up. or B. disturbed something conecting the power up behind the stereo.

ok this is an update on the car. i took it to a garage owned by my bosses uncle called SAABFlight run by david greenwood who obviously ONLY knows about saabs and nothing else. the bloke charged me £400 to give my car back still broken and with no MOT. the ONLY reason i paid him is because its my bosses uncle and if i didnt pay i probably wouldnt have a job the next morning!!

he fitted a new maf sensor and it got rid of the problem running cold and juddering. he was then left with a problem when on full boost the car would cut out. i told him i fitted new coil packs and it was probably that and i left the really dodgie one at the front (second hand). he refused to leason and said it was an elevtrical fault and started asking about the cars history, ive got alot ofdvd stuff in the car and somebody tried to steal it before so he wasted ages with this and i kept telling him to look at the coil pack. eventually he got a specialist in whp said "its the coil packs mate" so he just threw the old ones back in.

he got rid of the cutting out but it was still fluttering on full boost. i told him i had fitted some pfr7bs instead of pfr6bs and to either regap them to 0.7mm or to bung the old plugs back in. he said "changing the plugs wont do diddly squat" and basically refused to do it. he bought me a new tyre, maf sensor and lamba sensor without asking me and then i just got fed up and went and picked the car up.

driving home it fluttered at around 3rpm and onwards so the next day i bunged the old plugs back in and went for a drive. went all the way threw every gear and not one flutter or anything. i drove up and down a local round about section of around 2 miles going threw the gears again and again and didnt flutter once after about 7 times round.

so think after a month and £400 i fixed it in 30 minutes work. what a C**T, so avoid saabflight with your live. he reons hes got 3 scoobys and knows loads abou them aswell as saabs but he would listen after asking him about 10 times to change the plugs.

he is so bad that he managed to get my emissions to go from 0.7 CO2 to 0.9 CO2 so he fitted a new lambard sensor cos he said it was broken. my heatshield had rotten so i had taken the bottom section off and the top was ratling. i told him this and it may cause the lamba sensor to muck up. instead of removing the heatshield like i asked he just left it in still for me to remove so wont drive it far until ive removed it.

atleast my baby is fixed and away from that monkey with a toolbox

To be fair woody, a lot of people here told you it was either plugs / packs / MAF / O2 sensor. I'd assume a fair chunk of the £400 was for the MAF and O2 sensor?

Anyway at least you're up and running.

yeah i know they were the problems and thats why i kept ringing the guy nearly everyday shouting at him to look at them.

first of all with it cutting out i said change the coil packs, i put the good 2 at the back and the dodgie 2 at the front so you can get to them easy. his replay was "its not the coil packs thats stupid its an electrical problem of some kind" took a week of haggling and he got a specialist in who said " its the coil packs mate"

then had boost flutter so i said regap or change the plugs you have old plugs in footwell i left them there. his answer was "changing plugs mean diddly squat" asked him for 2 weeks to change plugs and he refused. he did MOT and said it failed on emissions, he bought new lamba sensor for no reason i think as the plugs where gapped wrong and causing it to run badly. he said changing the lamba made no real difference. BUT i still had to pay for it.

im still pretty p****d off because i had to pay out £400 when i could have got a cheap maf of ebay from somebody who had smacked there scooby up and had only done 40k in it. i can get tyres for £80 falkens 35/18 zr and i now have some nasty tyre on it that sticks out like saw thumb and it probably cost me more than £80.

i wouldnt have minded so much but he just kept buying stuff without asking my permission and then just turned around and said you owe me £400. he promissed he wouldnt buy parts without asking me first. the next thing on his list was to get me a new dump valve cos he didnt like the look of it and then some new intercooler pipes for my front mount as he thought it might be leaking air. lucky i did go pick it up then cos i might have another £100 or so wacked on top for a dump valve i dont need.
