The one they are currently doing is 11 bedrooms, with 3 parking spaces, which is actually impossible to pull off anyway. There is no room for 3 cars to access and park without external changes, which the plan says will NOT happen.

Its all a load of rubbish really. And objections are not taken like they used to be. Not to be defeated I shall carry on with my plight against it, but hey, lets see

The developers have already shown interest in the house.
With the extension of the tube coming this way, the property prices round here are climbing fast

Be like Pete, jesus you just put me off the whole idea! lol

I have already had a chat with neighbours, and all are in favour of doing something together. As soon as the images of the plans appear, we will know what we have to work with, and meetings can start being called, and assurances requested

Gonna be a proper battle I reckon, and I am sure to receive a visit or two from the developer. We had a good relationship before all this happened.

Well........ the whole thing is on hold at the mo for some "unknown" reason. Mainly being their fees bounced.

However in the meantime, the following artists impression of what they plan has been posted on their website... and OMG !

Really not quite like the old building is it!

They have windows directly facing the adjacent properties????

I'll not even bother with that monstrosity of an attempt at deisgn.

Good God. If that gets through planning you'd be able to nuke the planning department of the local council and have it put down as a mercy killing.

Yup all the side windows look directly in ours.
I should point out that this is not subject to an official application yet, but matches the description of what they previously applied for. So is likely to be what they go for.

In the meantime I have gone to the top of the pile with the people im speaking to about this.

Concern #1 is WHO is doing the work. And will they cause more damage to our place.

In the meantime, its time to get enough info together and consult the neighbours.
The building as a whole is practical, and not too sore on the eyes, but will stand out like a sore thumb, cause serious parking issues, and worry me no end with regards to its construction.

Snazy - they're NOT side walls. that's the main entrance facing next door.

God knows how much noise they'll make at all hours of the day and night

i should think it wont get planning.

it doesn't fit into the surrounding existing buildings which is normally enough to stop it

I should hope not, but I got to see how crooked this council person is yet.

Kieran, yeah sure looks that way dont it, but I just meant side as in aspect of the building not functionality.

As for the noise, I dread to think, and thats a great start to the objection, as all the bedrooms are along that side of my house.

Snazy, one term you need to use when objecting to that design is "not in keeping with the character of the area/ surrounding dwellings" or something akin.

Good luck

Cheers matey
Got to wait for them to make their official application again now as their last one was invalid due to non payment apparently.

Just writing up a little letter to drop into the locals around here, so I can get the ball rolling and be ready with a welcoming party when the application finally goes in.

In the meantime I am expecting a visit from someone in Building Control etc, regarding the current situation, and to put regulations in place before any applications are even submitted, let alone considered. I want planning to be fully aware of the state of play, rather than playing ignorant again.

I mean, how do you explain....

Date of Application 4 May 2007, completed 2 July 2007 and revised 24 August
2007

Letter sent granting consent
Date 30 August, 2007
Contact Geoff Whitington

Date house collapsed and was declared unsafe and deconstruction was required.... 20th August!

Haha apparently they are. Im sure in the flesh it would look "better" but yellow brick and glass beside 110 year old stock brick victorian style builldings... (one either side)
Maybe not eh!

The other hilarious thing is the peekaboo windows at the bottom of the building, under the ramp that leads to the entrance... Where exactly would they look out to ?

With the history of these builders, I think it would more likely be looking out to see the rescue crews trying to get to them under the collapsing building.

I for one would NOT like to live "under" any building these idiots built!

Looks like something from Grand Designs:...yet another "fashionable" bunch of boxes.

Seriously; they think people want to live in a place that looks like an office block?

(although I bet the Buy To(i)Letters will think so )

Oi its my house next door and I want it falling nowhere thank you VERY much lol.
As for the design of it. Not sure if its laughable, worrying or just plain eeeeew.
Spoken to a few of the neighbours today who all said much the same... "NO FRICKIN WAY"

One of the things worrying me is stress, and the impact on my mum. So im keen to get this underway asap.

Sadly people will live anywhere "affordable" these days. But maybe the dip in the housing market will make this whole plan less viable. Who knows.
