If you're worrying about mpg is it really the car for you?

No idea what mpg I get. When the fuel light comes on I fill up.

Dont know what my mpg works out at but i avearage about 240 miles from a tank of v-power, my best is 260 and my worse one is probably the current tank it's on as it's all been town miles nipping to friends houses and shops etc.....

84 miles from half a tank so far

Car is a standard 03 wrx, i think to help fuel consumption i need to do some engine mods

If you drive with economy in mind you should get over 400 mph
If you don’t live in a town

I do a lot of miles so I need a car that I can afford to drive a long way
And a car I can have a lot of fun in.

What this thread shows is there is a lot of drivers that do not have the skill
To drive in a way that will get you to your destinations quickly with the best mpg

That dose not mean you are driving miss daisy

35MPG is my best....its not that hard to get resonable MPG from the impreza just a bit boring.

35MPG was achieved weekend trip to the south of england a steady 65-70MPH on the motorway

Went down to bath from scarborough in june this year and used 2 and a bit tanks just to get there, used £270 in one weekend! Averaged 15mpg. Think if you stick to about 65 in 5th your ok but soon as you hit 70-80 and boost comes in your knackered.

Found exactly the same with a mate who had a 98 sport. I had a mapped MY99 UK turbo and every time I could get higher MPG than him.

I got 302 out of a tank once. I then thought if I wanted to drive like this I should buy a diesel focus.

I now get about 240 and enjoy myself a lot more.

if you drive the car right having a turbo actually helps mpg. ie the logic is that when the turbo begins to spool up it takes the pressure off the injectors and hence you save fuel !! at least thats what I've been told .....

On a recent trip to the ring, I got roughly 33mpg from my98 wagon. Car had 2 passengers and luggage. Speed wise, I was going to legal limits.

If your car is a non turbo, I don't think theres much point mapping if at all.

You'll find old threads about improved MPG after ECUTEK mapping.

360 miles per tank on the motorway. Mixed I get to 280 to 300 when the light comes on. Works out around 26 to 34 mpg. I did get 70 to half a tank while blasting through the derby dales though

I'm pretty sure I was heading for a 400+ tank on the Mcrae convoy!

Any Impreza, within reason, can be economical.
