Sad Announcement - Ant (Bug Eyed Peas) Died on Wednesday.....

I think Si is setting up a paypal account, so touch base with him.
I may not be there tomorrow as Sean has a big cup match... I'll see what time we're due to finish... But I may be over later at about 9 ish...
If not, I've spoken to Debs and she's looking to start the meeting in the bar and I'll catch up later...
Ping Simon a PM too as he may be busy...
Let's see if we can get a good donation going

I was reluctant at first to post a message in this thread as I had never met Ant and his family, and I didn't want to just express sympathies for someone I didn't know. But from last nights EOM, I was truly touched by the spirit of WYIOCers and the sense of wanting to do something good for Ange and Ben.
I'm not an old school WYIOCer myself, but have been accepted into the arms of one of the most caring clubs I've ever had the pleasure to be associated with. I count you all as my friends, and I am extremely glad to do so. I'm proud to think that we, as a club can help out as much as we can and I will be more than happy to do so myself, with any free time I have.
Some points we raised last night included the collection first and foremost, and dedications to Ant during our show season. The possibilities are endless, so lets get them rolling now!

I have contact Just Giving and explained the situation, they are going to get back to me and let me know if we are ok to open a page on there to donate through.
Like Lynz said there are lots of ways of doing this, here are a few ideas i have come up,
We need to contact the show organisers to see if we can raise cash at the shows we are attending soon by doing a raffle or something.
We could organise the coast to coast trip and charge a small entry fee per car which would be donated, we could get more clubs involved in this and make it a wicked event.
Also what about the charity fund that we have for the club, that could be the start of it of the donations.
Another idea is to start a ebay account with WYIOCS details, auction off unwanted things you have around the house and paypal into WYIOCS account and donate the proceeds.
I will update with the response about Just Giving as soon as i have heard back from them.
let me know what you think to the above, they are just ideas and some might think are not possible which is fine but we need a starting point.

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
Can I respectfully suggest that the WYIOC and the "Yorkies" do something quickly, I cannot compare my situation with Ange's in any way, after only losing close relatives.
I feel a rapid response will be of greater short term use than the (hopefully) much larger sum later.

totally agree.
i know it sounds awful, but would someone close to Ange ask her if she knows the financial support available to her from the state?
Bereavement : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits
There are lots of things available for her in this difficult time

Got a response from Simon this evening.
There's no problems in starting this up officially on SNET. They can't officially sanction it, but they can give us the space....
I have no issues in using the £150 we have from the charity fund to start the ball rolling if everyone else has no objections.
I'd also suggest having a simple plain unmarked envelope donation scheme on top of the paypal account. This will mean someone can give £5 or £500 without having to publish it to the world.
I agree with Dunx... let's get this rolling now....
Simon - have you set up the Paypal account or spoken to Mandy?
Scott - You happy to start a SNET General thread once you have the Paypal link?
Just some starters for ten to get everyone motivated for a special cause that's closer to home and personal than Sudan (though worthy in its own right...)
Charity begins at home and Ant was one of us, lets make ourselves proud because he'd have been one of the first to have done something....
