So some classics registered after March 01 have to pay the high tax?

The system is a complete joke. My wifes Leon TDI 90 is £200, my mothers Audi A4 TDI 130 is £145. Same engine, more power but as the Audi is 02 plate its cheaper.

So older isn't always better. I think that a post March 01 renault clio 1.2 is like £35 to tax!!

£120 for me for 12 months.
2.5 TD, 4x4, almost 3 tons in weight and a co2 of more than 225, and 25 mpg.

Not bad, these pick-ups.

I think it will have killed them basically, shame as its basically a pretty good car, apaprt from the relative lack of performance its better than my Saab 9-3.
