Its enough to make you go "Bloody hell!"
11.6mm thick for the iphone 7.6mm for the touch - which when you put the side by side is a lot.
Hmmm not sure about that, pretty thin, but its bloody massive in length and width for a phone.
So I can do video calling on my iPhone? 3G access? Cool
And that text limit...nasty.
Eh?
I pay £30 for 900 minutes/1000 texts any time any network and got a W910i "free".
How does this make the iPhone at £329 for the 16GB verison (compared to £245 for the touch, 8GB is a complete waste of time), plus locked to O2, plus £30 per month for less minutes a comparable purchase?
I can get a touch, which looks better, is cheaper, has all the functionality I want, plus a phone, which has far more functionality than the iphone, in terms of a phone for about £80 less total, and not be locked to O2, and have a better deal with regards to contract.
I think I'll stick as I am

I have an iphone....bought it on the day of release much tothe wifes disgust!
I have to say that I think some poeple here are missing the point of the iphone. You say you can get an itouch and a phone etc cheaper....yes you can....but i think the idea of it was that you dont need to be carrying two devices around with you.
There are loads of for's and against's for every gadget. I agree the price is high but then what bit of new technology isnt when its first released.
I have been with O2 for years as they have a good coverage and have treated me well. 500 minutes and texts or whatever it is sees me through a month without extra bills. I can view my emails anywhere i want....and im waiting to view the unhappy response to this thread from sat in my bath or lying on the beach abroad.
Its all personal choice at the end of the day.....if your worried about costs then yes there are cheaper alternatives.....if you want a single device which does what it says it will do then get one.

Saw this in the CPW today, must admit i'd like one, but still, £170 is alot, like others have said i'm going down the iTouch route.
But lets be honest who really uses the vast range of features available on basic phones. I call, text and use the alarm. The calander and calc are handy but not an everyday use.
Although saying that, the unlimited data is attractive, browsing the web with out the fear of stupid bills at the end of the month. [or did i read that wrong?]

You read it right, but I still can't work out why you'd go down the touch route when you say yourself you want to call, text and use the alarm, surely having those features on your iPod would be ideal.

I bought an iPhone last Saturday, £269 from o2... so on seeing this thread phones up the customer help desk and asked for my £100 back, they've said that it will be credited to my next bill....
As I could have cancelled the contract as it's still within the 14 day cancellation period![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
"Kerching....." The sound of Scoobynet saving DCI £100....![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Thats does make it so more attractive, the reason for the iTouch is for films with a semi decent size screen, i'm off to the states later in the year and the 32g version is £250, so was gonna get that out there. Did originally look at the achos [spelling?] version, and saw a fair few bad things on forums.
Certainly food for thought, might see how my money is at the end of the month.

lol - I posted up a pic which I later discovered was a photochop. Supposedly it was a leaked Apple ad showing a new Macbook Pro, a 32gb iPhone and iTunes 8 coming in June...
