Came out well. Nothing like a bit of proper vibration to let you know that it is all happening.

It always looked like some strange and imposing prehistoric insect to me. I hear that it was popular with the guys who flew it, especially the K2 with the powerful engines. The K1 used to look as though it was never quite going to get airborne in the length of the remaining runway!

It was always a popular sight at air displays.

I thought all the Victors had been scrapped, cept for the odd gate guardian. Would be nice if they could get one of these flying as well... get a Valiant, we got the entire V-Bomber force represented for airshows

Valiant’s are all long gone. Was at Hendon yesterday, was amazed how much room there is in the Victors cockpit compared to the Vulcans. It looked almost pleasant in there.

They were not resistant to G loads like the Vulcan was by virtue of their design. They even used to clock up fatigue counts when taxying with a good load of fuel on on a bumpy taxyway. The Vulcan because of the wing design was able to withstand the bumps in turbulent air at low level and it managed that for all the years of the Cold War. They could have been re-vamped for fatigue when they were taken out of service-but it was cheaper to try to replace it with the Tornado, or so they said.

The Valiant ran in to main spar fatigue problems and was taken out of service in the days of Harold Wilson who did exactly what he was told to do by LBJ, US President at the time, especially when it came to the TSR2. Where have we seen that since?

reminds me, yesterday the carwash roof started vibrating really bad, with a really strange "whopping" noise

bit like a small helicopter, only much louder, what made it strange was it seamed like 2 of them, and the "whopping" noises were kinda fighting each other, it got louder and louder until i thought "**** this" and i ran outside to see a fooken low level chinnook thing coming over the top of asda across the road

came straight over the carwash

**** me them things can shift some air, i thought the metal cladding panels were going to rip off the building, compleatly awesome

You could have charged extra for "intensive drying off" Mickey.

That's because the Vulcan cockpit was original designed to be occupied by one man only Andy, by the time the RAF decided they really wanted two seats up there it was too late to change the superstructure

Eventually the RAF suggested that Avro squeeze two little seats in, then said they'd only train Oompa Loompas to fly them:lol1

That's why they looked massive in official photographs, but not so big when you see them on display now, the flight crews in the old photos are only 4' tall
