Don't think taking the odd pill/line with wreck your life. My life is far from wrecked, infact I have a very good life/job. I took class A's for over 20 years as did a lot of my friends and they are all ok. I think you will find drink wrecks more lives than the odd line of coke.
It's your life and obviously you should live it as you see fit - as I do mine. Each to their own.

The OP asked if WE had any experience with drugs, not kids.
Yes i have taken drugs, coke and e's and as i said i enjoyed it, it was an experience, and i did take some e's while waiting till the calzaghie fight and had a right laugh, a laugh i havent had in months. And for the 'my daughter blah blah test', get a grip, this thread is not about chav teens or whatever, its for adults!!

Live your lives for now people with a slight view to what may be. No point living for tomorrow all the time. I know that through personal experience from family members and I'm sure the thread a the top of the page should highlight that to us all. drugs are just a part of life which you have to deal with.. some can and some cant............

I'm probably in an industry where it is more the norm rather than the exception at parties, but I can verify that I've seen alchohol ruin far more lives than the ocassional ******** that gets carried away and talks far too much with the recreational alternatives.
My daughter? Well, I'll be very realistic with her when she is a teenager and will ask her not to; just like my Mum did with me

PS I could qualify this with a havent touched drugs other than Millers & Rioja for XX (yes double digits!) years, but it would probably make what I say less meaningful, so lets keep that under the hat

Maybe I'm just getting really old.
I just don't like the idea of not being in control of my senses.
I know those that have taken it say it did no harm but presumably,if you needed the escape from reality, for whatever reason, you might continue to want that escape and finally 'need' it as opposed to just 'fancy' it?
I don't know. And from the above descriptions of what actually happens to you when you do take it....it doesn't actually sound very appealing and your wallet is just a lot lighter

Its not reasonable because its not realistic.
Whats more realistic is your daughter is likely to go to parties where they will be drugs. I'm obvioulsly not going to tell her to go and take drugs but i do understand that she may try drugs, which is here choice and i can do nothing about.

The point in my opinion is that you appear to be quite happy to abandon your parental duty to protect your daughter as far as possible by giving her some good advice which she may even respect from you as her father. I suppose that depends on how you brought her up of course.
To not even try to point her in the right direction is unbelievable in my experience. The impression you give is that you just don't care-or is it too much trouble? I hope not!

My wallet would be much lighter had I spent every weekend drinking 15 pints of beer.

Of course that may well happen in today's society of degraded moral behaviour.

Les you are dragging this thread off in the wrong direction. Go back and read what the OP asked. She/he never asked if it was Ok to let your kids take drugs.

Thanks for all the feedback.
Am I tempted to have a try? Maybe, who knows, but at the moment I'm not fussed.
I suppose you shouldn't try this kind of stuff or alcohol if you know you have an addictive personallity.
But if they are that good, and make you feel that great how would you not want to keep doing it which can then obviously lead to needing it, which is why I worry about mates doing it.

For about 2 years i took alot of e's and dope and to be honest i had a hell of a great time, no one around me ever died, got into fights, got arrested, did anything other than dance and have a laugh.
I wouldn't touch anything like that anymore as I have a job were i need to be in tiptop condition and unfortunately taking e's used too shatter me for 2 or 3 days afterwards ourelse i would still probably be taking them recreationally now.
I'd never force anyone to take drugs or even advise them too, all that i know is i had a great time and it did me no harm.
In saying that though like alcohol it affects different people in different ways. I personally get on like a complete toolbag on alcohol yet i'm just a happy bunny on e's.

A good point, and if you are thinking like this now, then i strongly advise for you to stay clear

At the end of the day it up to you, if you think you may not be able to control your useage then don't do it. I can take it or leave it so I don't have a problem saying no if I have work the next day or just can't be bothered to get wasted.

its almost impossible to control, it escalates for most people, what starts out as recreational ends up ruining lifes, breaking up families and causing drug fueled crime.
Got to be a total pratt, but thats just my opinion,.....!

i was at a stag do on saturday and caught up with some old friends. One of them was telling me about an old school friend of mine who he still keeps in touch with. Apparently he smokes weed everyday and his own words are that he is in a "dark place"
Other friends though that take stuff are fine, I think as others have mentioned that it depends on your mindset on how they affect you. I use an ephedrine kind of substance before I work out (similar to speed) but I can get away without using it
