It is classed as a stolen & recovered, but wouldn't be a Cat D.
The only thing i might suggest is seeing how much the repairs would be to do yourself, then see if you can withdraw the claim it it isn't too much.
(If the repairs will be £500, and you've gotta pay a £400xs anyway, it might be worth paying yourself and withdrawing the claim.... assuming they'll make sure it won't go on the register)

Most of the time yep i agree. when i caught the Tuscan front end it was defo easier to pay out the £400 to have the WHOLE front end repaired and painted, insurance would never have 1, got it that cheap and 2, do such a great job of the repair/finish..

Pretty much. But then if we all had no excess' and claimed for very small claims, our premiums would be a lot higher.
Catch 22 really.
But nowadays there are very rarely small claims. I bet just a lock set will be a small fortune!!!
I spoke to a gut last week who'd cracked his wing mirror. Nothing major, just the plastic cover. For Volvo to supply and fit a new one..... £580 + VAT.

Sooo glad your car has been found and looks like no damage other than having to change locks etc.
A few years ago when my 3ltr Granada got stolen and the theives ran out of petrol in it just 10 miles down the road they got such the hump that they tried to torch it...then when the police recovered it they did even more damage picking it up.
So pleased for ya
