Can I prosecute the council for not returning my bins to the place where I left them? i.e. not in the middle of my fooking drive entrance Have to get out of my car most weeks to move them to one side. I must remember to turn off my engine whilst doing so, however, to prevent Derbyshire being threatened by global warming

They do that here too, cos they are too lazy to bother putting them back where they got them from. Also if rubbish falls on to the road the ******* just leave it there and move on... Now if I dropped a big pile of rubbish, left it and a council **** spotted me doing so, no doubt I'd get a fine too, but it's ok for their trained monkeys to leave the **** at their **** for me and the neighbours to clear up for them!!

not being funny but i pay my council tax for my bins emptying and dont expect it to be done by myself.

do the council not have to prove he was negligent by over filling his bin? if the guys says he rycles all he can but the bin still isnt big enough then isnt the bin not fit for purpose?

there are 4 of us in my house and our bin only takes 3 full bin bags, we recycle all beer cans, tin cans, carboard, glass, paper and plastic, all in to separate containers but still its full and i watched them the other day and the glass is put in the same container as the tins?????? so why am i separating them.

Probably because it's all part of a government scam, as is most things these days, they all probably end up at the same landfill site regardless of which bin you put what in, I know a local council near me were recently caught tipping the recycling trucks at a landfill. It's just so people can be fooled into thinking the government/council are doing their bit lol

I heard about that happening in my area too. I tried to defend the council, and say surely they wouldn't to do this whilst trying to control our every move with regards to waste disposal.... how niave am I?

While they are empowered to fine if people aren't filling their bin correctly, they aren't recycling/using the correct bin, and this becomes widespread, it is yet another measure which will lose the faith of the masses, as it will be seen as yet another revenue earner. Especially when people see the 'recycleable' items going in the same landfill site.

From the local press and my own dealings with the council, there have been so many groups, and bodies as these "meetings" its just not funny, they even ran trials and everybody said "this sucks" but they just went ahead and did it anyway. As for the complaints system, it's designed entirely to grind anyone complaining down at the first hurdle.. so very few complaints all is rosey! As for voting.. pah.. the "cabinet" pretty much do as they're told by the unelected executive, and nothing will convince me otherwise.

They get fined for going over certain amounts of landfill... which granted they are doing, but who's fault it that? Again go to source.. is all this packing needed!? Besides, as has been stated and I'm sure you're aware.. just because it's not in the dustbin doesn't mean that it's not going to landfill.

Apparently cucumbers are wrapped in plastic because they last longer and so less overall waste. Aren't I clever
But that's biodegradable waste that will vanish in days if left to compost, or thrown out in the garden or even god forbid put in the bin... the plastic wrapper will be around for bloody years...

On the subject of **** (well we are talking about a council here) I remember going to a footy match where they had police on horseback for crowd control One of the horses decided it was time to release an **** kebab all over the public path, it was a huge pile of **** about 2 meters long (Horse looked chuffed though) However my mate decided to take the matter up with the ***** on the back of it, convo went something like this....

Mate: hope your gonna clean that up?

cyst on the horses back: No!

Mate: if my dog shat on the path you'd fine me 50 quid!

cyst on the horses back: yes that is correct.

Mate: so it's ok to let a horse do a giant ****e over a path but illegal for a dog to do a wee one on a path?

cyst on the horses back: Yes the horse is on police duty and exempt from fouling charges!

Mate: that's ridiculous, I want that **** cleaned up!

cyst on the horses back: One more word from you and I'll have you arrested for breach of the peace!

Don't get me wrong I hate plebians who let their dogs **** in the street and leave it, but the police should be setting an example, if they take horses into town centres, there is gonna be ****, they could atleast have **** shovellers there to deal with it!

That is actually a very valid point. Before I go on, like you I disagree with people allowing their dogs to poop all over the place and not clean it up.

We often have people riding around on horse and carts here, not all the time, but you do see them. Their horses crap all over the road, but it seems nothing is done about it, I doubt anything is, yet dog doo doo, that's a different matter. I wonder why that is.

With regard to the packaging, I have started removing un-necessary packaging at the shop and leaving it on the counter, especially at supermarkets. Letting them know that it is unacceptable is the only way things will get changed

Swampster, waste food is one of the many things we are banned from putting in our green bin
We don't bother with ours anyway, all our green waste goes into our own composter for the benefit of our garden In fact we'll probably have some fcukwitted jobsworth visiting soon to tell us we're being fined for not recycling enough
Luckily I know a guy with a pig farm

Horsesh!t is a hazzardous waste, believe it or not. Check with the EA

I think this is a disgrace. Councils have the brass neck to keep increasing Council Tax, ours went up 4%, and still look for any excuse to squeeze a bit more. What the hell are we paying the Councils for. Taking the rubbish is in with the charge, however much there is. They should not be allowed to dictate in this way.

Our Council is absolutely garbage (excuse the pun) our recycle bin has not been emptied now for 4 weeks. It's overflowing with bottles

One point is that in the "good old days" we did not have the sort of person who got pleasure out of damaging or even poisoning food in the shops. That is probably the major reason for all the packaging we have these days. The only defence is to burn it in a garden incinerator and risk the enviromentalists attacking you for committing such a heinous act.

As Skyline says-he has got a criminal record now for God's sake. What is the matter with these plonkers in charge these days!

Its a good idea as CrispDuck says, to put the wasted food in to a compost bin too.

Les

I refer to the Cumbrian council who has just find Mr. Gareth Corkhill, 26, of Whitehaven, for having a wheelie bin that was overfull.
I understand that this man now has a criminal record, this could influence maybe a job application, his credit, and a host other things. What on earth has gone wrong with councils, and the people we as rate payers, pay to make decisions. I feel the person responsible for this decision should be sacked and replaced with a monkey, that way someone will be able to make a sensible decision. I heard a spokesman for his local council, describing the fact his bin was open by 4inches as dangerous. Come to Birmingham, with the local strikes we have rubbish that has not been collected lining the pavements. Could this mean we a have facility to be able to prosecute our local councils for putting our lives at risk.

No Bob - it appears to be a one-way street...
