That tree incident could have been nasty..
A couple of years ago that tradidy with the JCB arm that swang out whilst on a lorry and took the roof off cars... terrible..
As to sheep and Rallies I remember reading on here a year of so ago about a rally driver coming over a brow of a hill and a sheep in the middle of the road... no time to brake.. kept going and completed the rally with sheep stuck to the front... gross... head in the headlamp etc..

Travelling along a single carriageway one afternoon in my Mum's car I noticed a recovery lorry coming the other way. It was one of those AA types where they lift the front wheels off the ground. Attached to the van was an old Renault 5.
Didn't think much of it until I noticed the Renault moving about and the next thing one of the rear wheels had fallen off and was hurtling along the road towards me I slammed on the anchors - swerved right at which point it flew left and just missed the car. I was a couple of inches higher in the seat after that!
Looked back up the road to see following cars taking avoiding action before the wheel came to rest against a wall. Van driver had manged to drag the rear of the Renault about 400 yards before he realised what had happened

Whilst driving my old M.G. Maestro...ok ok ....but she was a great motor to me, I had just got back behind the wheel after a very serious road smash in which a drunk nearly killed me, my wife and I were coming back from Milton Keynes when the lorry in front threw up a house brick straight into my windscreen, it was stuck between the rear tyres to say I needed new undies is an understatement the only saving grace a motorcycle cop saw it and gave chase.
Cheers

On a country lane near where I live, a small Fiesta with its backside sticking into the road, bouncing up and down. Windows were misted up...
Argh!! Spelling.

Going along the A64 in a Toyota Hilux, the bonnet decided to fly open
Luckily I was in the slow lane, but when it all goes dark at 70 miles an hour your pants start to go a brownish colour pretty quickly
Fortunately I managed to "negotiate it onto the hard shoulder. Dread to think if it had happened on a busy motorway and I was in the outside lane

In my driving time I've had a matress in the o/s lane M4 near Slough & a perambulator (old shiny big type) come off a roof-rack from the car in front on the M1 - both avoided
Worst was batting (& I say batting) down the A3 near Tolworth (pre 50 limit ) in the o/s lane when I realised that the rapidly approaching oncoming lights were not on the opposite side of the armco That was a severe bottom clenching moment
Never stopped or went round to see what happened as I was that frit that I'd missed it, I just carried on for 10 mins before the panic hit me..

At castlecombe in my legacy, accelerating on the start-finish straight upto a ton and one half on an exhaust falls of a Marcos V8 just in front of me, luckily bounces a few feet from the side of my car.
Just as i was going to overtake too , backed off a bit then just in case anything else fell off.

Coming down edenfield by-pass in rossendale, when a adult stag
came down a grass verge onto the opposite side of the road, jumped the central reservation, onto my side of the road, then jumped again over a fence into a woodland area. It happened so quick I didn't have time to respond, couldn't believe it, 4 lanes, 2 hard shoulders, and a central res in 3 bounds in about a second
Same place again but lower down, coming into rawtenstall. Just come back from pictures late at night, when I see a cars headlights
in the distance(no street lights at this point), I says to the mrs, that car looks like it's on our side of the dual carriage way, IT IS just shot straight past us doing well over a ton, we were touching warp speed as well, just lucky the other car was in the right lane, or "asta la vista"!!

A couple of tales, one which happened to me and one which I was told about...
First mine, going down the M40 one Monday morning in the Jeep and the disc comes bouncing across from the inside lane, I'm in the outside lane doing 70 mph (of course) and I just don't know where this thing is going, no time to swerve to avoid it. I feel the back end of the Jeep lift off the gound and then drop back down, get over to the hard shoulder and not only has it gone through the tyre but it's also split the alloy and everything, still no-idea what it was or where it came from.
and for a bit of light relief, I was told this by a mate, who used to cycle to work. Well it was winter 6:00 in the morning going down a country lane (very dark), next thing he know is that he's over the handbars and down the road on his back, get up walks back and find a cow standing in the road (mostly black). Bike is a bit of a mess on the other side, oh we did laugh........
