I'm with Petplan for my cat and they have paid out for a serious accident he had without any problems.

Hi Spoon

I have taken your advice and have asked Laura to phone all the companies mentioned.....she used to work for BT so is much better on the phone than me and a seasoned pro LOL

I'll let you know how she gets on

Pet Plan have phoned constantly like double glazing salesmen at all hours which has pi$$ed me off but in the end it's not my call !!

cheers

I tend to agree. I struggled to find others that offered the same level of cover as PaetPlan. Many will stop treatment of a given disease when so much has been spent on it or after 12 months. PetPlan will keep paying for life. Also some others will stop insuring your dog when it gets to 6 or so when they are likely to start costing. If you're with PetPlan from the start they'll keep your pet on for life.

Others may be cheaper but few offer that level of cover.

As others have said, Shaun, Petplan have paid out for them which is great and what you want.

However, I'd be interested in how many of those that claimed successfully haven't seen a big premium hike the following year. Petplan did, and I think still do, have a bigger excess than most and then there's the initial premium to boot too which can be a lot more monthly!

I see Petplan as the British Gas and BT of the pet world and if familiarity is the winning factor then Petplan win.

There's no reason why people shouldn't shop around annually for the best package. The above quoted utility companies largely exist in the now much more competitive market on those that don't bother to look around.

Of course if people don't care what they pay for peace of mind it is their choice too.

Personally I insure my dogs primarily for third party liability even though they are covered for injury/illness too.

The insurance paid for it all.
lol

My Rottie did the same and was fine

The gate was rubber ducked though Took ages to straighten it out

We're with more than. Been absolutely excellent but not the cheapest.

The good thing about petplan is that they do not limit the time of cover for an illness, we insured our last dog with Dog Breeders with no complaints, until she was diagnosed with arthritis and put on long term anti inflammatories and pain killers and the certificate came back saying that she was only covered for 18 months

Unless they were working on a miracle cure
