Bloody hell I thought that I was a soft southerner......they're only spiders FFS, get a grip and worry about something that might potentially harm you!
When i was in Iraq we had all heard about these camel spiders but after 2 months I hadn't seen any, however that was soon to change, one of the lasses decided that the desert wasn't flat enough for her cam cot so layed some large planks on some bricks.
Granted very flat but also very hospitable to these hard as nails spiders. When we lifted them up there were loads of them hiding in the nice new shade!
That night when i got in my dos bag (a bag I had been using for a good few years) something brushed passed my foot. Needless to say i got out pretty rapidly which in a sleeping bag is in itself amusing. I then proceed to beat the living crap out of my dos bag with a shovel much to the amusment of my mate. I'd say a good 10 mins of pummeling only to find out that there are 2 tassle type hook things on the inside for drying it inside out.
When i did catch one i hit it with a shovel which simply pushed it into the ground he simply shrugged it off, gave me a look of disgust and carried on chasing my shadow.
Yeah they are big b*ggers! And they chase your shadow!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are a decent sort who chooses not to kill spiders but still feel you have to chuck them out, then be careful when 'escorting them from your premises'....
If you throw them, then although they appear to scamper off, their skeleton thingy will have been crushed and they'll scuttle off appearing fine, but will soon die through their injuries.......
Put them on the ground gently
We're not that cruel, we (well Bob - I'm usually screaming like a girl and hiding) put our spiders in the beck at the back of the house and they go for a nice little swim, they like swimming
I'm wearing a new pair of knickers today............(bear with me, I'll get to the point)......pale turquoise with a small dark brown bow on the front. Nipped to the loo earlier, caught sight of part of the bow and thought it was a spider's leg!
