Anna, it hurts, I liken it to having your teeth drilled without anaesthetic but then again my pain threshold is extremely low

Put it this way I had mine done 27 years ago but I can still remember it It's a wierd sort of feeling and after a while the pain sort of becomes bearable then towards the end you just want it to stop as you've had enough. It's not as bad as having your leg cut off though - probably

lol wuss!
Im sure some of the 2-3-4 hour sessions people on here would agree on one thing. Focus on something else and dont think about it, and its not as bad. Once you are in control of the sensation, watch it being doing if the body part allows. Its great

Depending what you are having done will also depend on how it feels.
Shading with various colours can be quite tender as the go over the same spot over and again. Line work can be a bit touch and go depending on how much is being done. Colouring in general is fine and the least sensation.

You will always get certain spots on a part of the body that for some reason has more sensation. Just one little spot in the middle of your leg or something. Wierd.

At the end of the day, dont think about it, take something to read or occupy your mind, someone to talk to. Or just go off to your own little mental place if you can

I've always wondered this, are the artists allowed to carry out the procedure if you're drunk?

One of my mates was so hammered he claimed he fainted afterwards

One girl also told me she wouldn't have done it had she not been drunk.

Doesn't this leave the artist open to assault charges?

lol when I was having the colouring done, due to the blend of light and dark greens and blues, the whole lot was gone over 2-3 times... can get towards the very tender end of the scale by then.

Sat and watched as my other half had his done first.... he said it was fine except for a couple of little patches... but I still decided to have it done with the big wuss numbing cream

I don't think it bleddy worked though.. It was fine at first then he had to do a long line on the outline - I broke out into a cold sweat and apparently was pulling all sorts of funny faces.. but after that it was fine

The job he did on my other halfs is absoultely superb.. it was amazing to watch the guy at work - I never thought it would be so interesting!!

Mine

I dunno is the hoenst answer, Snazy...I think I might just have the one

Shading is done by lots of needles in a tight bundle, Sal. The guy we had was a portrait artist up until a year ago when he started on tatts.. Stu had 12 in his and mine used 8 - the shading is the best bit.. by the time the bleddy outline has been done, you welcome the feel of the shading

I might have one done on my ankle.. not sure yet
