HID conversion projector problem

There in a nutshell you've said it yourself. Its not just Bob that knows your stance on this everybody does. That's because on every HID post you rear your ugly head and spout this crap that nobody wants to read.
For some reason you've taken it on yourself to inform the world of your opinion on this issue.
You clearly haven't got the intelligence to realise that most people will make their own minds up despite your soap box rantings.
Why you've deemed this to be your problem and get so emotive about it is beyond me.
If Bob want's to sell these kits regardless of their legality then let him. If there are adverse consequenses then I'm sure he's weighed up the risks of doing so.
If people want to fit these lights and risk virtually non existant consequences then again it is their problem.
None of the above scenarios has any consequences for you so why oh why are you bleating on and on about this?
There is absolutely no need for you to keep harping on about this on EVERY HID thread.
Hopefully you'll see that as a reasonable stance in this debate.
Everybody knows that if you argue with an idiot you will lose and they bring you down to their level. That's why I'm not going to argue with you.
As for the big soft lass statement I'm only in Donny and there's a distinct possibility our paths will cross one day. I'm sure you'll revise that statement quick sharp if that happens LOL

If, as Bob says, he makes people aware, I'm happy.
Reasonable? Nope, rude from the outset.
YOU started with the insults, but can't take it when it comes back. Enough. I'm wasting no more time on you, have the last word by all means.
Until the next HID thread................

Threat? it was said in jest you fool hence the LOL and the smiley. This is only the internet afterall.
But I guess you're another one to add to the do not feed the troll list.
I was correct about the intelligence thing by the looks of it.
The misinterpretation of my use of the word emotive gave you away
Check out the OED lol

Just to summarise:
1. They are not illegal to sell
2. They are not illegal to use on all cars (depends on application)
3. Kits are CE approved/marked
4. There is a 'off road use' notice on the order page (as with many uprated bulbs, brake pads etc etc).
A Department of Transport press release is NOT law.
Of all the kits sold, we have had ZERO reported problems.
Alcazar: I have H4 HID fitted to my Impreza, and I'm quite local to you. You are most welcome to pop down/meet up and prove that they dazzle. I know they don't dazzle as I've had them on my own car for quite some time and there are lots of our kits fitted locally, so I pass cars with these fitted all the time.
They make a excellent upgrade, far better than any uprated bulbs. Much better visability at night, which means one can drive faster, safer.

My problem with the H4 conversion, and the reason that I haven't bothered fitting them myself, is the "cobbled together" method of producing TWO distinct beam patterns, which is, I'm sure you'll agree, impossible to do PROPERLY using a single light source, and a NON-HID reflector. You either get one perfect or the other, but the laws of physics say you can't have both. And as we all know, "ye cannae change the laws of physics"
The fact that HID's produce SO MUCH extra light goes some way towards negating this, but my preference is for ADEQUATE dips, which mine are, and excellent mainbeam, which I have, (with my Hella Xenons), so I've never bothered.
Legality? Hmmmm, a minefield. YOU insist that it's NOT illegal to sell, fit and use them on UK roads, whereas an answer to a query to DoT on this matter produced the response that it most certainly IS illegal.
Why do you insist it's not, ie: what are YOU basing this on, Bob? Do you have info from DoT that the rest of us don't? Or a response from them to a direct question? Personally I would say they ought to know, but am willing to be proved wrong.
OK, I acknowledge that you have many satisfied customers, hell, I used to use 100W bulbs on my road cars for years, right from their inception, KNOWING that they were illegal.
It's the KNOWING that's important, and as you say that you warn people, it's then their business if they buy. As it was mine when I used 100w lamps.
I'm sure we can leave it at that, Bob, unless you want to expand on WHY you say they are legal. I do feel that in posts to enquirers as to your product, you could say that they aren't meant for road use, but hey, if you say it on the order form, what's it matter in the scheme of things?
Regards, Alcazar.

Can I just point out that the o.p. doesn't even live in this country !
Therefore this is all irrelevant !
As far as I am aware two bulbs of equal power will apply equal loads to the ballasts, so no advantage. There are higher power ballast units available, but I don't know if they are compatible !

Re legality, thankfully I have some knowledge of how the UK Law works and a press release by DOT does not make it law. There isn't going to be a piece of legislation with a whole list of things that are legal, but you are welcome to point me to the legislation that says its not.
Otherwise, I trust we are both happy to put the matter to rest
Cheers,
Bob
