Sorry but that STI in Red looks bl00dy awful.
I personaly think the ONLY colour the STI looks good in is Dark Grey Metallic.
I think here in the UK we'll get quicker Evo's. FQ330 & 360 that will probably blow the STI into the weeds. Need to know what Prodrive have in mind for the STI.
MPG of the Evo is just a pi55 take. Especially in FQ360 form.
I'm warming to the STI but the first thing I'd have to do is change the rear light clusters. Worst bit of the car.
Nice write up though.

You donīt have to say youīre sorry. Itīs just your opinion. Opinions are like... well, you know. We all have them.
I personally donīt like the new STI in darker colors.
And of course you UKers get faster versions of STI and Evo. That just doesnīt have anything to do with mine or what versions we get Besides, you can always make any Evo or STI go faster than a Prodrive STI or FQ Evo.

Thank you. Iīm trying to be as unbiased as I can although this is my 5th Subaru.
Iīve been trying to figure out, if I would have to keep either one of them, which would I keep?
I donīt know. Both have something the other doesnīt. Both have their pros and cons.
I just donīt know. One day I go thinking "Iīd keep the Evo" but then I go out driving the STI and think "Oh Iīd keep the STI, no doubt". But it goes full-circle next time Iīm in the Evo

I saw a red Evo X yesterday and have to say it looked awesome in its own right, but if you took the badges off it you wouldn't know who has made it, it seems to have lost its link with previous models. Although if the Impreza had lost its bonnet scoop I'd be saying that about it too... still cool cars but why did Subaru stick those rear lights on it!!!

Awesome pictures & write up! Please don't get dark wheels for the evo tho!!! I think dark wheels are horrible, especially on a white car! Dark wheels just remind me of either........silver or white wheels that need a damn good wash, or ****ty steel wheels that have had the wheeltrims stolen off em. lol. I know pretty much 100% of people on here are gonna disagree with me on that, but I just hate dark wheels! At the end of the day tho, it's ur car and you do what you like!

Well yeah lol. We're not on about grunt here tho are we, we're on about looks. I just mean like....if you look at most other cars.....like the astra for example....each shape change.....it's still an astra sorta thing. You can tell the evolution from the last shape kinda.......but this......it's just a completely different car rather than an evolution of the last shape. I think maybe the main thing is the boot. Or lack of. They have always had a boot since like 1995 or whenever they first came out....and that's where the famous big spoilers like you mentioned used to sit.....so you kinda get used to that after 13 years....and now they've gone & chopped it off! I dunno. I really like the new shape. It's just not how the new impreza should have looked in my opinion

Prefer the Evo over the new STi like, classic to hawkeye are the one's that I like the newage one just don't do me any favours but each to their own I suppose. Your a lucky sod to own both of them lol, I wouldn't turn an STi down if I was offered one like but if I had the money I wouldn't buy one just yet. Suppose I'd have to test drive one and maybe try living with it for a week or so to see how it differs from my TypeR. Don't like the fact that they've made a "Spec R" either, it's nothing like it's predacestor which would be the original TypeR, I mean yes it does have the C-Diff but the looks and rawness have all gone!! On the plus side they do come with an FMIC as standard so that saves a couple of quid and sat nav/dvd player thats canny cool like.

Not a cheap trip is it?! But, certainly worth thinking about for the future! I've always wanted to go there, but would HAVE to have a car with me.
By the time I'd driven to the very north of Scotland though and across on the ferry, I'd need to find somewhere good to clean the car. It would be a shame otherwise....so many good places to take photos!
Impressed by your spotlessly clean garage too!

That maybe true. But the FQ330 starts at Ģ30499 and the FQ360 at Ģ35499. Thats a lot more money than a standard Sti.

I drove around it last year with a friend of mine for the first time in my 27 (26 at the time) year old life... and wow... just wow... the amount of amazing scenery and wicked roads is just outstanding. Never believed that my home country could be this beautiful and fun to drive around. Amazed and impressed me.
You should definately try it out.

Some new pics of the Subie...
Also... Sold the Evo... This is now my other car...
Itīs an 2006 Audi S4 4.2 Quattro DTM-Style. V8 which cranks out some 340 ponies and it sounds rather cool 8) Around 6000 miles on the clock right now. 6 sp. automatic with flappypedals on the steering wheel. Lots of goodies in it.
It has DTM front and rear bumpers, CF front lip, Recaro leather buckets, 18" RS4 darkchrome wheels and I donīt think the exhaust system is entirely original.
Anyways, more pics...
The only pic I have so far of the interior..

Hi
The S4 is a whole different ballgame. Itīs much more of a cruiser and better as a daily driver, more comfortable. The power is instant, more grunt also. The suspension is quite stiff, Iīm not sure if it has been lowered or got more stiff suspension or if this is the standard S4 suspension, but compared to one other S4 I saw a few weeks ago, mine feels lower. The braking is superb.
Regarding the "Spec.R". Not sure if itīs officially called that, doubt it. I just remember when I was choosing which package I wanted, on the Excel sheet I was shown, this one was called "Spec.R" because of the Recaros. Propably just a technical nickname. I dunno, donīt really care. Just kinda cool name

But I have to say that the Evo compared to the STI is not such a nice ride regarding drivetrain. The gearbox can annoy you by being too rough: it will grind, it feels loose compared to the STI box. Also the clutch can sometimes feel annoying when driving in slow traffic. Only 5 speed and at 60-70mph on the highway I was at 3300RPM and SO missing the 6th gear the STI has.
Iīve had 3 STI's and they all are much more enjoyable to drive regarding this, but the Evo is more fun regarding handling, thatīs no secret. But overall user friendlyness on a daily basis, the STI wins hands down.

It's interesting to hear your views on the 5 speed manual box on the Evo.
I had hoped this wouldn't be too much of an issue, but suspected it would be. Strange decision by Mitsubishi.
I just don't like the look of the new STi so i'm a bit torn! I'm sure it will grow. I do like the way they have made it more compact, it definately needed that as it was getting too big.
Evo looks stunning.
