OK guys a quick update...
Oil has been drained and confirmation of metal fragments. Looks like copper so indicating bearing failure.
The full extent of the dame is still unknown, although Zak was hoping to have the engine out late this afternoon and possibly a simple tear down to get an idea of the damage.
So Frayz your engine building skills are certainly going to be in need to help get this back together in time for Silverstone...

Could be a simple bearing failure that hasnt damaged the crankshaft, could be much worse.
(just me being me) but id be suspect of buying a built bottom end that i hadnt built myself. Purely because of relying on someone else.
There are a about 1000 components in a engine.... only needs one to fail.

Depends on what has failed Matt.

Well time to update you all on the situation/progress...
Engine is stripped
2 Pistons are damaged and will need replacing.
No bearing damage
No crank damage
No obvious head damage, although we do suspect that there might have been a head gasket failure. Frayz has taken the heads away and is stripping cleaning and replacing the valve stem seals and will of course check flatness to see if they need machining. We are also looking into the possibility of fitting some long duration cams but this requires some looking into.
Turbo looked like it might have failed too, although Turbo Dynamics are sure that the signs of failure could not have been turbo failure (oily/watery residue after the exhaust port of the turbo). Zak will be stripping this tomorrow to check further.
We are also going to check the Apexi AVCR to see if we can find out what the maximum boost achieved was. Sadly my Defi's only go up to 2Bar and they show that this was achieved, but won't show if more was achieved.
Engine mounts were completely shot, and this may have been the knock we were feeling as no there failure can be found.
Oil pressure may have been a schoolboy error, in that the car had sat for around an hour or two and could have cooled down sufficiently to allow the oil pressure to rise.
Oil pump appears to be sound and pressure relief valve moving freely.
Both inlet & exhaust cams on one head had slipped a tooth.
So all in all looks promising, but with the block needing to go for honing a new set of pistons and rings, new bearings, new engine mounts, new cam belt tensioner, new cam belt, new head gaskets, and ancillary gaskets and seals, still going to be major job with limited time and a nasty dent in an already deflated wallet!!!!
But still positive and very hopeful for Silverstone!!!
So clearly massive thanks go out to Zak & Luke @Mocom for pulling out the stops on this for me. Also massive thanks & respect to Frayz for stepping forward and helping with the repairs

Cheers Phil
Thanks Tiny....
TBH i really reached major low over all this... it's taken major commitment in both money, but probably more precious for me at the moment is time....
I had all sorts of reasons for doing this again this year and at the moment I've found no enjoyment do it....
Fingers crossed the failure isn't too major and I can look forward to the remaining rounds!!!!

I can fully sympathise with what you are going through, its extremely easy to say **** it, and throw the towel in.
You have the talent behind the wheel, and the car is more than capable. Fingers crossed, i will see you at Silverstone, where hopefully your luck is somewhat better.

Mike, as i said at the weekend, you did right not continuing with it on track, its far cheaper to replace a set of bearings, oil pump and head gaskets than a whole new engine.

I know your right and you know better than most how much this little event will cost me....
But that said i can't wait to get back out there at Silverstone... I may not beat you big power boys but if i can make you sweat a little i'll be very happy!!!
