Well another update on the team effort to get the Team ESC car up and running again..

Well sadly after several hours from Frayz stripping and cleaning and inspecting my heads, they were discovered to be cracked in several places, on back to the valve seat..

So not only wasted time, but a nice set of port & polished heads fit for the bin!!!

Well a quick scout on scoobynet and a replacement set of STI V5 heads are on the way by special delivery tomorrow. Alyn @AS Performance has worked on these and says that they are OK, he even arranged delivery for me from the seller

So Frayz starts again tomorrow on a fresh set of heads to strip, clean and replace valve stem seals and ensure valves are seated correctly... not to mention the likely hood of a set of long duration cams going in at the same time.
But it has to be said that Frayz has gone out of his way on this in a big way and i am truly grateful to him for doing this as i am to Zak & Luke.

Well apart from the bog box of parts i collected from Mark @Lateral performance that just about sums it up for today and I'm off to sell a kidney to pay for half of this....

Fingers crossed they turn up in time Mike,

I have until 6pm to get them,

Cleaned stripped and inspected, remove valve train, clean valve train, re-clean, flat gasket faces, check faces for flatness, fit cams to measure valve lift, lightly lap the valves, re-strip fit new seals and reassemble valve train, parafin test valve seats.

Tomorrow should be fun...

Frayz got on amazing today....
The heads are finished and when i saw them they looked like new.... Frayz has since told me that he's done another two cleaning cycles on them . So they probably look better than new now!!!!

Sadly the block didn't get honed today, so won't be back till Tuesday which is seriously hampering the schedule .
But Frayz has again stepped forward to say he'll help Zak where possible to get the blocks built up...
I really couldn't ask for more from the Zak, Luke & Frayz.. Cheers guys

Just home, i can honestly say im absolutely bolloxed. Was up at 6:30 to be at Zaks for 8am. Heads arrived at approx 9:30, i was working on them from 10am solid.
It was touch/go this afternoon if i would complete them in time but litarally by the skin of my teeth theyre done.
They have been fully overhauled and as Mike says, now look as good as new, well probably perform better than new now.

Really hope everything goes okay next week, even if everything does arrive on time its a crazy tight schedule.

We're over one big hurdle today but theres plenty more where that came from!!!

I did but stayed later to get em finished, my guv stuck around for a bit. Then by time i had taken them back to Zak had over an hours drive from his to my home, hence why i didnt get in till just before 9 lol.

Was a long flat out day for me but hopefully worth it if we get the result.

I didnt get any pics of em done, but here they are before i started.

No i'm afraid not... Zak was hoping to get the block back yesterday late afternoon/early evening, but i'm not sure this happened (sadly the quick turn around of the block has taken a little longer than hoped, but this is out of Zaks hands).

It's getting tight for Sunday now... By the time the engine is built and installed, it will need a feew miles put on it to help all the rings, bearings etc. to bed in on the mineral oil, before changing to normal oil and mapping for full boost. I think there will be some around the clock driving friday night. Not sure i fancy going round the M25 a few times though

Home, then round the M25 is about 150 miles, I'm sure if we take it in shifts it won't be a problem.
Hell, I did 240 miles before 10.00 am on Sunday in awful weather in the van!

I'm not sure we can thrash the car like you do the van, when running in...

It would hardly be thrashing your car to do the same speed I get in the van

And anyway running in over night will mean the roads will be nice and empty.

OK so here's the latest update...

Block is now with Zak and the build can begin
Clearly we lost quite a lot of time with the block not being available yesterday lunchtime, but we should still be on track for sunday

There was another scare on teh way... ANC had lost the turbo
was due to be with Turbo Dynamics before 9am yesterday, but no sign of teh turbo and ANC had no idea where it had gone....
But thankfuly it arrived on a delivery at TD this morning... so fingers crossed if there are no majour issues with the trubo (i.e. just seals), then it should be back with Zak in the morning and ready to be fitted with the engine
